Job Summary:The Field Specialist / Technical Specialist (WASH) is responsible for the technical planning, implementation, supervision and maintenance of equipment in the field. The position ensures effective delivery of safe water, sanitation and hygiene services in line with organizational standards, donor requirements, and national and international WASH standards.
The role combines deep technical expertise with fieldwork coordination and team management. Involves close cooperation with WASH technical teams, contractors and community members to ensure proper functioning and sustainability of WASH infrastructure.
Main responsibilities
Program implementation and field coordination
Participation in organizing and conducting visits to communities to assess needs and identify priority areas intervention.
Participation in the preparation of technical assessments, data collection and the formation of analytical conclusions for the planning of program interventions.
Preparation of work plans and coordination of the activities of the technical team, including monthly verification of the completed works.
Overseeing the implementation of WASH program measures, in particular water supply systems, water treatment plants, wells, water towers and solar energy systems, in accordance with approved schedules, technical requirements and standards.
Coordination of activities with local authorities, contractors, community representatives and partners.
Regular visits to project sites to monitor progress and resolve operational issues.
Technical assistance and support in the preparation of purchase requests and technical specifications, as well as in the evaluation of proposed technical solutions.
Assist in the preparation of information materials and participate in training and capacity-building activities in the field of WASH.
Monitoring, reporting and documentation
Collection and verification of technical data and field reports from project locations.
Ensuring efficient and rational use of materials for water purification systems.
Participation in the preparation of technical and donor reports (progress reports, prompreliminary and final), with a special emphasis on technical results and challenges.
Development and maintenance of accurate and reliable technical documentation related to project implementation (as-built drawings, commissioning reports, maintenance logs).
Supporting needs assessments and technical analysis for the development of new project suggestions.
Safety and security
Complying with applicable safety and security policies and procedures.
Using required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Notifying supervisor of any unsafe situations or safety-related issues.
Working with by communities
Cooperation with community members in order to assess current needs in the field of WASH and ensure compliance of program activities with real needs.
Promoting the active participation of communities in WASH activities.
Qualifications and experience
Higher education (bachelor’s degree) in the field of engineering, water resources, environmental engineering, public health, or a related field.
At least 3 years of WASH program management experiencein a humanitarian context.
Strong technical knowledge of water supply systems, water treatment technologies, and sanitation solutions.
Knowledge of humanitarian principles, as well as current WASH regulations and standards (in particular Sphere).

Proven experience in project management, including planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Proficiency in English (oral and written).
Experience in managing field teams and contractors.
Developed communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Willingness to work in difficult field conditions.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Working conditions
The position involves work in the city of Dnipro with regular trips to project locations. The working environment can be difficult and include exposure to extreme weather conditions, improper sanitary conditions and security risks.
