Job Description

The Shelter Technical Assistant supports the implementation and monitoring of shelter project implementation to ensure timely and high-quality construction and restoration of shelters for vulnerable population groups affected by the war in Kherson, Sumy, Zaporizhia and Kharkiv regions. This role requires fieldwork, technical expertise and hands-on coordination with local communities, partners and teams. Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) training implementing partners on basic construction expectations, travel to support partners in program implementation, establishing distribution sites, providing oversight and feedback on the quality and practices of shelter kit installation, performing basic needs assessment , as well as provide monitoring and evaluation feedback.

Officers responsibilities

  • Assist in the selection of beneficiaries who will participate in the repair project activities.
  • Make visits to the project implementation sites and check the quality of the projects in construction and renovation.
  • Report any potential problems to management, including the program manager.
  • Candidate must have a driver's license and a vehicle that with which you can make trips to distribution points. The candidate will be reimbursed for travel.
  • Support implementing partners in establishing distribution sites and conducting training
  • Conduct rapid needs assessment.
  • Support monitoring and evaluating the success of the program on at the field level through surveys and personal assessment.
  • Observe the work of partners and provide them with feedback on appropriate distribution and installation of shelter kits.
  • Control the design, quality and installation of materials related to the renovation.
  • Consult on best practices and Ukrainian building and renovation regulations.
  • li>Conduct visits to program implementation sites to ensure good dissemination and implementation practices (quality control) are being followed.
  • All other duties as intended.

  • Education in the field of construction, knowledge of construction standards, specifics of various processes, construction materials.
  • Readiness for weekly or daily business trips to construction sites.
  • Knowledge and experience in construction are mandatory.
  • Ability to demonstrate take initiative and solve problems quickly with minimal assistance.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable, and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Internal reporting skills.

  • Word, Excel and Outlook skills.
  • Availability of driver's license and IDa car that can be used for trips to work sites will be an advantage. Transportation expenses will be reimbursed.

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or secondary special education in the field of construction (civil or architectural) or in related fields
  • Mandatory practical experience in construction or experience as a general contractor (minimum 3-5 years), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Knowledge of the Ukrainian language is mandatory, knowledge English will be a significant advantage.

Work schedule:

8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., from Monday to Friday
