HEALTH PROMOTER COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SUPERVISOR

Doctors without borders/ Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is an international humanitarian organization that provides assistance in more than 60 countries of the world to the population in a difficult situation, victims of natural disasters, man-made disasters and armed conflicts, regardless of their race, religion or political beliefs.

MSF is a civil society initiative that unites people who want to help other people in crisis situations. Thus, the ISF is an association by its own choice.

Anyone who works with MSF, does so out of conviction and is willing to support the organization's values ​​and principles.

Main goal:

With the support and guidance of the public health education manager, be responsible for the implementation of the strategy/work plan, as well as be responsible for overseeing the performance of teams working in communities or health facilities in accordance with MSF project objectives, values, standards and procedures. 

Responsibilities:

  • Strategy, activities and monitoring:
    • Actively contribute to the development/adaptation of the strategy/work plan.
    • < li>Manage and monitor the implementation of the strategy / work plan, according to the timeline.
    • Support community participation and regular consultation before and during the implementation of the strategy.
    • Organize health sessions for MSF staff
    • Provide support in the development of educational materials on health issues, applying the correct process (pre-testing, content verification, translation).
    • Contribute to rapid assessment and surveys.
    • Actively support systematic collecting, coding and reporting on feedback from the community..
    • Support implementation of community-level surveillance (data collection, active case finding, tracking).
    • Responsible for planning and organizing community meetings ( in cooperation with the manager).
    • Contribute to the creation of the activity map
    • Monitoring: Ensure the availability of data collection tools; data coding in the database and data quality control.
    • Monitoring: contribute to the analysis of monitoring data and search for adjustments (in cooperation with the manager), conduct monthly reporting (Report on situations, etc.).
  • Team management:

    • Contribute to the evaluation of the team (in cooperation with the manager).
    • Contribute to the development plan for the team, which works with population.
    • Training: participate in needs assessment, developmentbci and training implementations for the team. (in cooperation with the manager).
    • Organize regular and systematic supervision of the activities of the community work team and provide training at the workplace.
    • Ensure planning and practical organization of activities for the team (schedule work).
  • Ensure the organization of regular meetings with the team.

Features of the MSF unit:

The position is located in the Dnipro-East project (Donetsk region). The new outreach team will work in our mobile clinics. The Health Community Engagement Supervisor (HPCES) has overall responsibility for capacity building and implementation of various activities, according to the needs and operational strategy of this project. The supervisor will report to the relevant project referent and will receive technical support from the public education manager located in Kyiv.

In close cooperation with the line manager and technical referent:

  • Participate in defining and updating the strategy and identifying indicators to monitor activities, results and achievements.
  • Participate in monthly reports according to instructions (monthly reports, statistical reports, etc.)
  • Conduct personnel-related processes (meetings, trainings, internal communications, etc.) in accordance with MSF values ​​and procedures.
  • Ensure regular collaboration and communication between the community outreach team and other relevant MSF teams to ensure that the health education team is part of the profile activities and contributes to the achievement of the profile objectives project.

Main responsibilities

  • Supervision of the implementation of the strategy and related activities in accordance with the goals, target audiences, campaigns, messages, events, specific actions, etc.
  • Monitor teams and their activities in mobile clinics, reporting difficulties and progress and adapting format and content as necessary.
  • < li>Supervise team members at various work locations, being first point of contact for support, advice, delegation, direction, monitoring, quality control and support of their work tasks, time management and reporting,
  • Lead training initiatives according to the training plan for the population work team and other teams , who will benefit from community engagement and health initiatives. 
  • Evaluate, develop and adapt materials according to the needs of the project. Ensuring content and format are pre-tested with target groups to ensure adequacy, relevance and full understanding of messages.
  • Increasing our engagement (and understanding) with communities in the places we operate through activities such as community sessions, community meetings, patient satisfaction assessment; understanding messages; Rapid qualitative assessment on various health care issues; regular collection of qualitative data, etc.
  • Due to constant involvement of the community, distrtake steps to better understand the context and needs of the medical practice.
  • Perform routine activities such as: sessions with patients/caregivers; understanding treatment; community mapping / village assessment; quantitative/qualitative data collection
  • Ensure that information on dynamics and movements is communicated to the MSF team

Any other relevant tasks that MSF may need to improve activities with health care and community involvement in our programs and activities

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Essential:

    secondary education certificate

  • Desirable:

    Bachelor's degree in social sciences, social work , behavioral sciences, public health care, nursing.

Experience:

  • Basic:
    • Team management experience
    • Ability to implement given programs


    • Basic computer skills

  • Highly desirable:

    Previous experience in medical education of the population and

     qualitative methodologies

  • Work experience in MSF or other non-governmental organizations preferred.

Knowledge of languages: fluent Ukrainian; knowledge of English.
