Strong Junior/Middle QA Engineer (VMS) in Ajax Systems

Device development at Ajax is handled by R&D, which consists of four departments: System, Device, Automation, and QA.
Device Department develops security and automation devices. And it also poses serious challenges in the following areas:

• Low-Power: devices must work as long as possible from standard batteries;
• Cost: the mass product must remain in the range of the middle price segment;
• DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFH (Design for Human): circuitry, housings and other elements must be easy to repeat in hundreds of thousands of devices in production without loss of quality.

Development mainly is conducted for STM32 (but there are also other MCUs and SoCs), using Embedded C. Strong expertise and talented employees have already been gathered from the number of Hardware and Embedded C engineers, industrial designers, mechanical designers.

Knowledge and skills required:

• Understanding networks: DNS, DHCP, TCP/UDP ports, firewall, subnet masks;
• Basic or confident knowledge of Linux (ssh, scp, top, ps, ls) Agile teams;
• Good communication skills.

Will be a plus:

• Experience with video devices or embedded software;
• Understanding the principles of video systems (IP cameras, streams, protocols);
• Experience with Git;
• Basic knowledge of Python (writing simple scripts).

Tasks:

• Test VMS solutions (backend + client applications) and check the stability of system operation in real usage scenarios;
• Validate client-server interaction and look for bottlenecks in the operation of services;
• Check network settings (DNS, DHCP, ports, firewall, subnetting) and analyze their impact on work systems;
• Analyze logs and localize defects in the Linux environment;
• Work with Linux, use console tools to diagnose and reproduce problems;
• Create and maintain test documentation (test plans, test cases, checklists);
• Analyze requirements, ask clarifying questions and participate in refinement/planning;
• Evaluate tasks of varying complexity and be responsible for their quality implementation;
• Work with collections oferez CI/CD (Jenkins), check features in test environments;
• Qualitatively describe bugs and accompany them until they are fully fixed.
