GENERAL INFORMATION
BF "Right to Defense" (hereinafter - the Fund) is a sector leader in the protection of people who have suffered from war, veterans, refugees and stateless persons. We seek recovery and integration for those we help. Our team protects people's rights and influences laws and decisions in Ukraine and the world to become fairer. We are actively developing a network of partners for localized support of those who need it. The fund is 13 years old. Today, the team of BF "Right to Defense" has about 1,200 specialists. Geography: 22 regions of Ukraine, as well as a representative office in Poland. More than 3,300,000 people have received aid since the start of the full-scale invasion. Our work was recognized at the national level: in 2024, the Foundation won the first place in the "Charity Ukraine" competition in the "All-Ukrainian charity" category, entered the top 10 of the Forbes Ukraine rating of "50 best charitable organizations" and took 9th place in the integrity rating of Ukrainian charitable foundations.
The project "Complex services for the protection of the civilian population affected by hostilities and improving the resilience skills of workers who come to help first" is aimed at protecting and supporting the rights of internally displaced persons, the population affected by hostilities, stateless persons, as well as veterans and their families at the national, local and individual levels. In 2026, as part of the project, the Fund will monitor the protection of the rights of IDPs and provide free legal assistance to internally displaced persons, stateless persons, veterans and their families in the regions of Ukraine. Odesa, Poltava and Kirovohrad regions. The territory of implementation may change depending on the security situation and the needs of the project.
The main purpose of the work of the Specialist/position on social issues in working with stateless persons is to provide social support to stateless persons, an initial assessment of their needs and assistance in obtaining administrative, social and medical services, as well as referral to appropriate specialists to resolve issues of documentation and access to rights.
Responsibilities and tasks
Specialist/position on social issues for work with stateless persons is responsible for:
- Conducting an initial assessment of the needs of stateless persons who applied to the Fund;
- Providing social assistance to stateless persons: social services of counseling, information, physical support, representation of interests in accordance with needs, as well as case management;
- Assistance in obtaining additional services (medical, social, psychological, legal, provision of temporary shelter, etc.), in particular through referral, if necessary, to relevant general or specialized support services for victims and/or other subjects; assistance with documentation, confirmation of citizenship or passing the procedure of recognition as a stateless person;
- Analysis of individual cases of beneficiaries and assistance in finding comprehensive solutions to solve their problems;
- Interaction with local self-government bodies, social services, medical institutions and other organizations to ensure access of beneficiaries to the necessary services;
- Ensuring the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of work documentation;
- In case of need to perform other tasks related to project implementation.
Professional requirements
- Higher education in the field of social work, law, psychology, social sciences or related areas.
- Experience in social work, human rights protection or work with vulnerable population groups will be an advantage.
- Understanding the system of providing social and administrative services in Ukraine.
- Experience of interaction with state bodies, local self-government bodies, social services or medical institutions will be an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with vulnerable categories of the population.
- Ability to analyze the individual situations of beneficiaries and contribute to the search for complex solutions.
- Excellent command of the Ukrainian language, both spoken and written.
- High level of responsibility, organization and attention to detail.
- Cultural sensitivity, empathy and respect for diversity.
- Availability of a driver's license and own car.
- Readiness for business trips within the region.
- Adherence to the principles of confidentiality, protection of personal data and ethical standards in working with beneficiaries.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct and the Fund's Policies.
