SEP Project Officer- Dorcas Ukraine

Purpose of the position

SEP Project Officer is responsible for the implementation of the Dorcas Ukraine Community Safety Nets (CSN) program and the Future for Children program (F4C ) in Transcarpathia, in accordance with defined quality standards for specific tasks delegated to him/her. This role involves working with churches, schools and local implementation partners to ensure effective community engagement and collaboration.

 Within Dorcas, the SEP program concept aims to achieve the comprehensive social development of marginalized people in empowered communities. Dorcas Ukraine pays special attention to vulnerable segments of the elderly population and children who may be particularly marginalized or have difficulty accessing services.

 CSN is one of the leading approaches within SEP. An important aspect of CSN is to inform communities about the exclusion of marginalized people and how local structures can be strengthened to support these people. Children and their parents or guardians are the main participants of the Future for Children project. The key to F4C is the development of life skills, strengthening and capacity of families in raising and generating generational incomes, and building child protection platforms.

The CSN Project Manager may be required to perform other duties related to SEP in Transcarpathia by assignment such as: advocacy, asset-based community development, local resource mobilization and multi-stakeholder partnership.

 Primary responsibilities and tasks will be as follows :

 Planning, management and implementation of the project

  1. Contribute significantly to the high-quality and timely implementation of project activities through regular monitoring;
  2. Provide support to local implementation partners, consultants and facilitators to ensure effective delivery of all objectives both internally and externally;
  3. Responsible for ensuring that project costs on delegated tasks are within budget and unacceptable costs have been minimized through regular monitoring;
  4. We are responsible for full compliance with the Dorcas project cycle management methodology as defined in the Dorcas Project Implementation Manual; 
  5. Assist the SEP project manager in timely and high-quality internal and external reporting on all project matters;

Portfolio development

  1. Assist the SEP project manager by helping to develop new projects and new onesproject budgets, collecting data on the context and needs of beneficiaries;
  2. Assist the SEP project manager in the quality design of projects.   
where necessary, in close cooperation with the SEP project manager.

Profile

Identity

  1. The candidate is expected to fully support the vision and mission of Dorcas.

Knowledge and Experience

  1. Higher professional education in social work, sociology, psychology, public health or other relevant field;
  2. Three years of field experience in a similar position, preferably in conflict/post-conflict conditions;
  3. Advanced knowledge of project cycle management;
  4. Sufficient command of the Ukrainian language, preferably knowledge of English (Hungarian is an advantage).
