Security Support Officer

Doctors Without Borders/ Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is an international humanitarian organization that provides assistance in more than 60 countries of the world to the population in a difficult situation, victims of natural disasters, man-made disasters and armed conflicts, regardless of their race, religion or political beliefs.

MSF is a civil society initiative that which unites people who want to help other people in crisis situations. Thus, the ISF is an association by its own choice.

Anyone who works with MSF, does so out of conviction and is willing to support the organization's values ​​and principles.

Main objective:

The primary objective of this position is to ensure the safety and security of the location and the team at the designated location. This includes supporting the Project Coordinator and Safety Advisor in managing safety, monitoring day-to-day events that affect the team's safety, and ensuring safety procedures specific to the assigned area are followed. Additionally, this role involves monitoring and managing ambulance bases and movements as required.

Responsibilities:

    • Be sure that all employees and visitors are in specially designated safe areas within the MSF premises during an alert. Monitor all security and alarm related events.
    • Adequately inform all employees and visitors of security Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and measures to be taken in case of alarms in areas where premises or MSF activities.
    • In collaboration with the project coordinator and security advisor, prepare and conduct regular security briefings and debriefings for project staff and visitors, in accordance with the security plan project and SOP.
    • Ensure that all employees and visitors are accounted for during the alert and coordinate the gathering of personnel in the designated secure area.
    • Conduct security clearance before moving to and from designated locations.
    • Keep abreast of changes in the security context on a daily basis in the areas where MSF teams operate and alert them in the event of a threat.
    • Perform additional tasks, related to safety, as required by the Project Coordinator and/or Safety Advisor.
    • Report to the Safety Advisor on safety performance for the assigned area.
    • Assist and support the Project Coordinator and security adviser in conducting awareness raising sessions about B.Estaff briefings to improve understanding of assigned area security policies and plans.
    • Monitor the security situation and pre-defined routes for MSF vehicles to and from the assigned area as required by the Security Advisor.

    • Ensure and monitor the security of MSF bases and monitor the movement of MSF vehicles when necessary.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficiency in the Ukrainian language
  • Preferably experience in the field of humanitarian aid MSF or other non-governmental organizations
  • Communication and negotiation skills are required
  • Understanding the context of the Kherson region, especially its parts related to the current hostilities actions
  • A valid driver's license is required

Knowledge of languages: fluency in the Ukrainian language; knowledge of the English language is desirable.
