Medipeace is a South Korea–based NGO specializing in global health. Since 2009, Medipeace has worked towards promoting health equity by implementing various projects for the most vulnerable populations in Africa, South-east Asia, Latin America, and the Pacific Island Countries. Our expertise lies in health system strengthening, national and sub-national level public health surveillance, infection prevention and control, community-based rehabilitation, and maternal and child health.

[Background]

Medipeace is implementing a disability rehabilitation–focused project funded by the Government of the Republic of Korea through KOICA. The project consists of three main components: medical equipment support, construction and facility modernization, and capacity-building programs for medical professionals.
 Through these integrated interventions, the project aims to strengthen the overall rehabilitation system and enable the provision of effective, high-quality rehabilitative medical services.

[Objective of Assignment]

The Project Assistant supports the implementation of disability rehabilitation–related projects in accordance with Medipeace Headquarters’ activity plans. This role involves monitoring on-site conditions and reporting findings to ensure the effective and smooth operation of project activities. In addition, the Project Assistant assists in coordinating collaboration and partnerships with relevant stakeholders.

[DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES]

Scope of Work

  • Discuss activity plans with headquarters in accordance with project objectives and timelines and support the effective execution of activities in the field.
  • Monitor the implementation of activities, gather feedback from beneficiaries, and assist in compiling detailed reports on activities and findings.
  • Assist in developing and strengthening local project networks to enhance project impact and sustainability.
  • Collect data on project indicators and maintain an updated database to track project progress accurately.
  • Monitor real-time developments of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, providing timely updates to headquarters and contributing to the formulation of responsive strategies.
  • Track project performance, including reporting, monitoring, and follow-up on project activities, while coordinating with headquarters.
  • Provide translation support for documents required by the Country Director or Medipeace from Ukrainian to English or English to Ukrainian.
  • Coordinate with headquarters to ensure efficient and effective utilization of project resources.
  • Regularly communicate with stakeholders to identify and document detailed project progress, achievements, challenges, and any changes in plans, and promptly report this information to the headquarters.
  • Document stakeholder interactions, feedback, and outcomes to inform future engagement strategies and develop a comprehensive stakeholder management plan.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with headquarters to discuss project progress, notable updates, and challenges, ensuring alignment on strategy and direction.

Reporting Line

The Project Assistant will report regularly to the designated supervisor at Medipeace Headquarters and coordinate project timelines accordingly. The performance of the Project Assistant will be evaluated by the designated HQ manager, and if the evaluation results are unsatisfactory, the contract may be terminated based on the recommendation of the supervisor.

[Contract Period and Duty Station]

  • Duration of Assignment: Yearly Contract – includes a 3-month probationary period.
  • Workplace: Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine. The position will primarily be remote-based, with on-site field visits conducted as required.

[Required Skills and Experience]

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Rehabilitation Medicine, Rehabilitation Therapy, International Development, or other related fields is preferred.

Experience

Candidates with the capability and passion to work in the NGO, international cooperation sector, or other related fields. (experience working in an NGO is preferred).

Technical Competencies

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proactive attitude and risk management abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google applications
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • A multicultural perspective and an open attitude toward learning in new environments

Language

Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Ukrainian (intermediate or higher), with document writing skills

[Notification]

This contract will be concluded directly between Medipeace Headquarters and the employee.
 With regard to salary payment and tax obligations in Ukraine, employees are responsible for handling all tax-related matters in accordance with local laws and regulations.

The initial contract includes a three-month probationary period. Upon successful completion of the probation period and based on performance evaluation results, a yearly contract may be offered. The expected monthly salary is USD 1,500 (inclusive of taxes).
