CONTEXT

Three MdM (Doctors of the World) chapters are directly implementing activities in Ukraine: 

  • MdM Spain has the lead for global MdM response in the country and covers Kyiv and surroundings, Donbass, Kharkiv, Zaporidja
  • MdM Germany covers Dnipro and Vinitsia
  • MdM France covers the Southern part, Odessa, Mykolaiv, Kherson

In South region, MdM-F supports and searchs for new perspectives of cooperation among other NGOs as well as among humanitarian, civil society, medical and local authorities. Main focus is the support in restoring access to medical services and Mental Health and Psychosocial Services (MHPSS) for populations affected by the conflict. The component of sexual and reproductive health, as well as Gender Based Violence is part of this project. MdM-F also collaborates with local organization, dedicated to population acknowledgement with LGBTQI+, sexual awareness topics. 

MAIN TASKS:

•To design, plan, implement, adapt, and monitor programmes’ MHPSS activities,

•To be responsible for the strategy, quality, and relevance of MHPSS activities, practices, and data •To directly or indirectly lead/supervise teams (MdM or partners), 
 •To promote the quality of MHPSS activities, practices, and data 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Hierarchical Link:          Medical Coordinator (MedCo), Genco

 RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The main responsibilities of the MHPSS Advisor are: 

? Designing and monitoring activities 

? Implementing and monitoring the quality of MHPSS treatment (following protocols,  adapting protocols, content of training, organising the healthcare pathway, etc.) 

? Creating and disseminating tools, guidelines, and training materials ? Providing technical supervision, capacity building and support for teams (MdM and/or  partners) 

? Identifying national and regional actors in the theme and leading the relevant network 

? Being the technical representative of MdM with authorities, partners, and other NGOs

 ? Implementing and monitoring data collection, managing and training teams, compiling, and analysing data 

? Proposing changes to activities if needed and planning resources (logistics, finance, HR) 

? Implementing MHPSS monitoring at national and regional level 

? Designing and conducting needs and impact assessments relating to MHPSS 

? Evaluating MHPSS partners

? Contributing to writing MHPSS components of draft projects and donor reports 

? Writing activity reports, capitalisation reports, summaries, etc. 

? Monitoring the budget for these activities and contributing to the construction of the  budget Management 

? Managing and leading a team (information, setting objectives, monitoring activities,  managing leave, recruitment, discipline, security, training, skills management). 

? Planning and monitoring activities and implement corrective action where necessary 

? Advising, arbitrating, and supporting measures to be taken in the event of difficulties,  malfunctions, and incidents 

Main skills: 

? Master national and international MHPSS standards and issues and MdM frameworks 

? Understand a healthcare system (including organisation, curriculum of medical/MHPSS  profiles and national healthcare programmes) and summarise the broad outlines 

? Plan and quantify MHPSS activities 

? Define integrated MHPSS needs and adapt operational activities to field constraints 

? Identify, analyse, prioritise, and summarise information relating to the field of activity. 

? Draft and format notes, documents and/or reports relating to the specialist area 

? Define and analyse mental health indicators 

? Draft, adapt and formalise tools relating to the field of activity 

? Identify training needs, design and lead MHPSS training sessions 

? Create and develop a network of professionals on the theme ? Work in a multi-disciplinary team 

? Communicate MdM values and positions 

? Discuss and negotiate with healthcare authorities 

? Project cycle management, Project planning and evaluation 

? Public speaking 

? Master the language of the coordination (French, English, or Spanish) 

? Use the Microsoft Office Pack Management skills 

? Take decisions and arbitrate 

? Draft action plans and follow-up indicators and results in a given area 

? Organise activities and objectives, distribute workload 

? Communicate with the team 

? Assess and develop colleagues’ skills 

Training

– Previous professional experience required:

? Level I Mental health professional (psychologist, etc.) 

? 5 years of experience in the field and in project management 

? Masters’ Degree in Public Health is desirable

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

  • Contract Type: Fixed term contract during probation period, then open-ended contract
  • Duration: 6 months (possibility for extension based on budget availability) 
  • Probation period – 3 months 
  • Starting date:  November 2024
  • Job Schedule: Full time  
  • Location: Mykolaiv
  • Related occupation: MHPSS Advisor – category 8: 
  • Salary according to MdM classification (non-negotiable): basic gross salary from 100639 UAH + food and transportation allowances. 
  • Reimbursement for medical coverage 
  • Support of corporate psychologist.
