TGH in Ukraine
TGH has been working in Ukraine since June 2016. Having started work in Kramatorsk to support the most vulnerable sections of the population affected by the conflict in Donbas, TGH continued to provide assistance to those affected by the outbreak of full-scale war from February 2022 to October 2024 through four operational bases: in Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy and Lviv, which provided humanitarian assistance through activities in the field of protection (case management, legal and psycho-social assistance) and basic needs (MPCA, shelter, WASH).
Since October 2024, the TGH coordination office is located in Kyiv and focuses on protection and shelter in the eastern region, supporting people in need in Kharkiv, Donetsk (PUT) and Zaporizhzhia regions from its operational base in Dnipro through direct and indirect implementation. As a Global Communications Specialist, concurrently TGH is also looking to expand its recovery/resilience program in the central and western regions.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
MEAL Data Officer at TGH Dnipro regional office in Ukraine is responsible for supporting the monitoring, evaluation, accountability and training processes of humanitarian projects, and also assists the MEAL manager and the entire office in the preparation of internal and external reports in accordance with requirements of donors and organizations.
Under the leadership of the MEAL manager and the MEAL technical advisor coordinator, the main duties of the MEAL Data specialist are as follows:
Monitoring
- Support the MEAL Manager in developing and implementing comprehensive monitoring plans for ongoing projects, ensuring timely and effective tracking of activities and results.
- Regularly collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data from sites using appropriate data collection tools (surveys, focus groups, interviews, etc.).
- Together with MEAL Manager, provide real-time feedback to project teams for improvement project effectiveness based on monitoring results.
Accountability
- In close cooperation with the Coordination MEAL department to manage accountability mechanisms, such as feedback and complaint systems, to ensure systematic resolution of beneficiary issues.
- If necessary, replace/maintain Accountability Data specialist.
- Together with the MEAL manager to train staff and community members to use accountability tools and the importance of inclusive and transparentcommunication.
Reporting
- Under the supervision of the MEAL manager, contribute to the preparation and timely submitting internal and external reports providing relevant MEAL data and analysis.
- Ensure all reports and data are stored in an organized and secure manner for future reference and audit.
Learning and Innovation
- Ensure compliance with data protection standards and ethical standards in data management.
- Keep up to date with industry best practices practices and trends in the management and analysis of developing data.
- Assist in the creation of new tools to improve the work of the regional office.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Bachelor's degree in social sciences, international development, statistics or related fields.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience preferred MEAL-related positions in the humanitarian or development sector.
- Understanding data protection and security principles.
- Fluency in the Ukrainian language.
- Knowledge of spoken and written English is highly desirable
- Excellent Excel skills as well as Google Sheets experience.
- Experience or knowledge of data collection and analysis platforms such as KoBo Toolbox or other systems is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving and decision-making skills, as well as an understanding of the importance of reporting to team management and efficient use of resources.
