Machine Learning/Generative AI Engineer (R&D Department) in PrivatBank

The R&D department works to improve operational efficiency and leadership to the market by developing our AI and machine learning competencies across the organization. As an ML/GenAI engineer, you will monitor and evaluate emerging AI technologies, create strategic prototypes, conduct regulatory and security compliance assessments, and improve existing solutions using advanced methodologies.

Your primary focus will be direct integration into Data Science teams at the initial stages of projects to provide technical assistance and expertise. Working closely with colleagues, you will guide the design of ML systems, architectural decisions, and prototype development.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Regularly research and evaluate advanced technologies, tools and methodologies in the field of generative AI and machine learning
• Provide hands-on support to the Data Science team in the early stages of ML/AI projects (technical assessment, architecture design, PoC development and code review)
• Develop universal solutions and common standards, to accelerate work on future projects
• Ensure technical solutions meet business goals and operational standards
• Conduct technical assessment and architecture reviews covering model validation, security and regulatory compliance

Basic requirements:

• 4+ years of experience in development, training, fine-tuning and deployment of ML models in a production environment
• Practical experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, GCP or Azure)
• Experience working with experiment tracking tools and monitoring systems for both ML systems and generative AI
• Hands-on experience building and evaluating services based on generative AI, including RAG systems, Large Language Model (LLM) API integration, and query/context engineering (prompt/context engineering)
• Experience with AI ethics frameworks, bias detection and model fairness assessment
• Strong programming skills, especially inPython
• Confident knowledge of the main frameworks for ML and generative AI (PyTorch/TensorFlow, HuggingFace, SKlearn, OpenAI/Anthropic/Google SDK, LangChain/LangGraph, etc.)
• Ability to effectively explain complex technical concepts and be a mentor to team members
• Knowledge of English atIntermediate (B1) level (for written reporting and communications)
