The Danish Refugee Council (DRC)is a leading international humanitarian organization whose main objective is which is the protection, support and promotion of long-term solutions for the population affected by displacement.

DRB has existed in Ukraine since 2014. At the moment, DRB has more than 800 employees in total on the territory of Ukraine. In 2024, the DRC will continue to scale up substantially to implement emergency response in the social protection, livelihoods, housing rehabilitation and humanitarian disarmament and peacebuilding (humanitarian demining) sectors, providing direct support to responsible individuals and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and as well as their partners. DRB will continue to develop long-term solutions, adapting them to the changing situation.

DRB is currently looking for a highly qualified Lead specialistproject on social and legal protection (on issues of gender-based violence (GBV)) to work in our office in Kyiv, with regular trips to program implementation regions throughout Ukraine.  

General purpose positions:

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Program Activities, the Lead Specialist in GZN issues provides leadership and consultation on all aspects related to planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the activities of the DRB in the field of combating illegal activities in Ukraine. The leading expert on GBV issues is responsible for the technical quality of GBV prevention and response work throughout Ukraine, including case management, psychosocial support, awareness-raising and capacity-building activities.

Your main responsibilities will be:

Ensuring the compliance of the DRB programs for combating GHGs with regional and internal strategies:

  • Participate in relevant coordination meetings at the national and regional levels, including the meetings of the sub-cluster on the issues of illegal activities
  • To develop strong relations with the active entities of combating illegal activities and subjects of the relevant direction, including with CSOs, in the spheres of DRB intervention. 
  • Collaborate with all sectors within the DRB, especially but not limited to Social Protection, MPCA (Multipurpose Cash Assistance), NFI (Non-Food Commodities), Housing Reconstruction and Economic Recovery sectors to identify and to implement joint measures/strategies, as well as to integrate measures to reduce the risks of GHG.
  • Lead the process of developing a strategy for combating GHG in DRB at the national level
  • Develop the necessary tools, guidelines and SOPs for the social and legal protection team of the DRB. 
  • Regularly review and share new evidence, receivedthem on the basis of international standards and tools, including the Minimum Standards for Combating INF, the IPC Guidelines for Combating INF.

Ensuring direct technical supervision for the quality implementation of program activities in combating INF:< /em>

  • Support the Social and Legal Protection Team to ensure that all GBV prevention and response programs are based on GBV guidelines and meet the needs of women and girls.
  • Provide technical oversight and support to all members of the social and legal protection team involved in GBV prevention and response activities.
  • Develop and facilitate trainings on basic gender principles and principles of combating GBV, including trainings for the social and legal protection team, government partners, CSOs and other interested parties parties
  • Coordinate work with relevant stakeholders (including national and international NGOs, CSOs, government partners)
  • Develop, maintain and disseminate service mapping
  • Prepare quarterly reports for donors and develop sections of project applications related to social security issues
  • Provide support to social and legal protection managers in determining contextual information for the development of specific events, information sessions and training programs implemented in the Centers for women and girls.
  • Contribute to the concept, development and production of "informational, educational and communication" (IPK) materials. 
  • Provide support to the psychosocial support team in the development of gender-sensitive modules and materials adapted to the needs of women and girls.
  • Contribute to the development of tools and indicators for monitoring and evaluation
  • Develop evaluation tools and coordinate the organization of data collection, summarization, analysis and dissemination of results.

Administration:

  • Fill and apply for procurement, travel permits and any other administrative forms of the DRB as needed
  • Coordinate work with other departments of the DRB to ensure effective use of material, technical and financial resources

< strong style="font-weight: 700; font-style: normal">About you:

In order to to be successful in the role of Lead Project Specialist on Social and Legal Protection (SLP), we expect you to have at least 3 years of relevant work experience in the field of social and legal protection, health care, humanitarian work or development with excellent references and at least 1 year of experience in managing cases of domestic violence.

In addition, we expect:

  • Higher education (Bachelor of Science/Humanities degree) in relevant field, including gender issues, patient care, etc., as well as evidence of further specialized training.
  • Demonstrated practical work experience in the field of combating GHG/SRH, inincluding case management, preventive measures and public involvement.
  • Prior experience of working with displaced and conflict-affected communities, conducting training programs on the prevention of human trafficking, raising awareness and providing services in rural areas.
  • < li>Considerable experience in building personnel potential.
  • Experience of working in difficult conditions with high personal resilience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Advanced level of English.

We offer:
