Position description

The head of the VSH program will manage the implementation of all projects in the field of water supply, sanitation and hygiene within the framework of the Samaritan's Bag program in Ukraine. The Program Manager will ensure quality program design and implementation, working closely with project staff to maintain alignment between WASH activities. This includes ensuring that all HSE activities are aligned with overall program objectives, including objectives, timelines, resource allocation and risk management.

This role also involves managing training and developing resources, tools and knowledge for program staff, facilitating excellence in the H&S sector by developing mechanisms for sharing best practices. Establishing, building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders such as partners, NGOs, the UN and other government bodies is a key component of the work. The Program Manager will coordinate with field staff to address specific issues related to the HSC program, conduct baseline research, monitoring and evaluation, and build the capacity of HSC staff throughout their tenure.

< strong>Job responsibilities

  • Consulting on issues of technical development and implementation of projects on the ground, as well as providing assessments and reports on the current activities
  • Ensuring high quality program development and implementation
  • Collaborate with project staff to ensure consistency within each WSG activity and ensure that WSG activities do not go beyond the scope of the work plan and the overall program, including objectives, timelines, resource allocation and implementation, and risk management
  • Lead training and development of program staff resources, tools and knowledge
  • Develop mechanisms for sharing best practices through training and resources for further improvement in the VHS sector
  • Establishing, developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders such as partners, NGOs, UN and other government bodies
  • Searching for grant and funding opportunities , as well as an analysis of the parts of each project proposal related to WSG
  • Research and testing of technologies that can be implemented in the field
  • Coordinating with field personnel to solve specific issues related to the water, sanitation and hygiene program, baseline research, monitoring and evaluation, as well as capacity building of VSH staff in the field
  • All other duties as assigned

Skills Required

  • International management and leadership experience with experience in Eastern Europe preferred.
  • General knowledge of Auto CAD, EPANET 2, Microsoftft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Ability to communicate diplomatically with NGO, government and community partners
  • Ability to train and mentor others
  • Possess strong organizational and critical thinking skills
  • Must be a humble team player; have the ability to be flexible and adaptable
  • Willingness to travel on and off site
  • High level of integrity and stewardship

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; preferably in a STEM field, including engineering, science, or mathematics; one to two years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language

  • Ukrainian is required.
  • English is required .
