Swarmer is a Vendor-Agnostic Autonomy for Coordinated Robots. We develop AI-managed collaborative autonomy to make teams of connected drones and autonomous systems smart, efficient, and self-improving over time.

📌 ROLE OVERVIEW:

We’re looking for a driven and innovative Head of Autonomy to join our startup and lead the development of advanced robotics systems focused on collaborative autonomy, multi-agent reinforcement learning, and complex behaviours. This role is perfect for someone who’s excited about pushing the boundaries of robotics and AI, and who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

📌 WHAT YOU’LL DO:

You’ll be at the forefront of developing systems that enable our robots and drones to work together seamlessly, collaborate and learn from each other, and perform tasks autonomously in dynamic and denied environments.

You’ll be leading and developing a team of applied scientists, helping us grow as we scale.

Set the Autonomy strategy:

• Craft and implement an Autonomy strategy that ensures our product is rock-solid and meets the bar we set for the mission-critical system
• Drive the development of algorithms and architectures that enable robots to work together efficiently, learn from their environment, and adapt to new challenges — empowering humans to manage millions of drones

Build and Lead the Team:

• Recruit, hire, and lead a talented team of engineers and applied scientists who are obsessed with delivering a high-quality solution
• Mentor and grow your team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation.
• Help your team set and achieve ambitious goals, and support them in their professional development.

Drive R&D and Implementation:

• Oversee the design, simulation, implementation, and verification of swarming algorithms and other AI techniques to achieve collaborative behaviors.
• Work closely with the team to prototype, deploy, test, and improve new autonomous systems, pushing the envelope of what’s possible in collaborative robotics.
• Collaborate with hardware and software teams to ensure seamless integration of AI solutions into our overall product ecosystem.

Innovate and Improve:

• Continuously look for ways to make our RnD processes better, faster, and more efficient as we grow.
• Stay on top of the latest trends in robotics, drone technology, and AI.

📌 WHO YOU ARE:

• You have a solid background in AI, with behavior management or decision making systems, experience in building complicated connected autonomous systems, ideally involving robots or drones.
• You have experience with collaborative robotics, including building systems where robots communicate and coordinate to achieve common goals, preferably in dynamic or denied environments.
• You are familiar with game development principles, such as pathfinding, decision trees, and state machines, and understand how these can be applied to robotic systems for behavior modeling and coordination.
• You’re a natural leader who enjoys building and mentoring teams.
• You thrive in a startup environment where you can take ownership and make a big impact.
• You’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves and dive into the nitty-gritty details.
• You’re always looking for ways to innovate and improve processes.
