JOB DESCRIPTION

Expert in capacity development, prevention of gender-based violence and empowerment in gender-based violence (GBV) cases, will be responsible for developing and implementation of training programs that increase the capacity of International Medical Corps (IMC) employees and partner organizations, local actors, service providers and community groups in the field of gender-based violence prevention. The position also involves creating and strengthening Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS) and empowering vulnerable populations.

The focus will be on community engagement, awareness raising, and shaping behavioral and social change to address the root causes of GBV. The expert will closely cooperate with local organizations, state structures and humanitarian actors in order to strengthen the mechanisms for the prevention of GHG and support for victims.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

PROGRAM PLANNING

  • Work closely with the GHG coordinator, GHG manager, technical consultant with (as needed) to support the development of project proposals, including the development of training components and capacity-building strategies, ensuring their compliance with donor requirements and global best practices.
  • Advocate for victim-centered approaches within humanitarian coordination structures and national policies.
  • Coordinate engagement with partner organizations (as needed) to organize training and meet capacity development needs.
  • Support the process of recruiting new personnel with the aim of strengthening the organization's capacity in the field of prevention of GBV and expanding the rights and opportunities of victims.

Capacity Building and Training:

• Develop and conduct training for employees of MMK and/or partner organizations, providers of primary services, in particular medical workers, specialists in mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), social workers and protection professionals on victim-focused GBV responses.
• Develop and deliver specialized GBV prevention and empowerment training, including through special training programs such as Girls' Shine, Women’s Rise, etc.
 • Conduct Training of Trainers (ToT) in order to build a pool of qualified teachers within local organizations.

Technical Support and Coordination

  • Provide technical guidance to IMC and partner organizations on the implementation of best practices.
  • Provide technical support and supervision to prevention specialists, as well as personnel involved in the work of Bezpechni spaces for women and girls (WGSS), and mobilization activities - as needed.
  • Support the development and adaptation of training materials, tools, manuals and specialized psychosocial support (PSS) programs in accordance with international standards.
  • Development and implementation of community mobilization and outreach strategies to prevent GBV and promote gender equality.
  • Support the development of information campaigns adapted to local context, including media engagement and community dialogues.
  • Facilitating the implementation of participatory approaches that engage men, boys, women and girls to discuss issues of power relations, gender roles and violence prevention.
  • Providing follow-up and mentoring support after the training to facilitate the practical application of knowledge.
  • Documenting best practices, success stories and lessons learned lessons for further improvement of the program and expansion of its scope.

Project Management

• Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation of training events, track participation and progress of participants.
 • Coordinate training planning with the logistics department and other relevant units.
 • Plan and purchase necessary materials for training in accordance with the budget and implementation schedule project.
• Contribute in a timely manner to the preparation of regular program reports with accurate and reliable data.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements and internal procedures for reporting, procurement and implementation of activities.

Security and Code of Ethical Standards of Conduct

• Ensure compliance with security protocols and policies.
• Contribute to the creation of a safe and a supportive work environment for all employees, volunteers and partners involved in GBV programs.
• Be an example of compliance with the core principles of GBV programs, including respect, non-discrimination, responsible use of power, non-violence and promotion of gender equality.
• Contribute to the formation of a positive image and general trust in the program and the organization, in particular through adherence to the Code of Ethical Standards of Conduct, including Harassment Prevention, Beneficiary Safety, and Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Prevention (PSEA) policies.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience required.
  • Minimum trand years of relevant experience, particularly in GBViE programs and training; with a focus on prevention, Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS) management and community-based approaches.
  • In-depth understanding of GBV case management, referral pathways and psychosocial support services.
  • Knowledge of global GBV frameworks, including the GBV Guidelines, Gender-based Violence Information Management System (GBVIMS) and standards of conduct cases.
  • Proven application of GBV key competencies and commitment to the core principles of GBV programming.
  • Strong facilitation, mentoring and coaching skills, proven track record.
  • Practical experience with structured training programs such as Women's Rise, Girl Shine and other GBV prevention and empowerment frameworks for women and girls.
  • Proven experience in creating and managing Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS), including developing tailored programs for women and girls.

Code of Ethical Standards of Conduct
