About the job 

The ICRC Dnipro Sub-Delegation is seeking a highly capable Field Protection Officer to join our team in Dnipro. This role supports the efficient implementation of the ICRC’s anchoring, contextual understanding, and operational response in his/her assigned Area of Responsibility (AoR). He/she monitors and reports timely on the general situation in the AoR, with focus on the conduct of hostility and its humanitarian consequences. 

Start date: January 2025


Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to analysis of the security, socioeconomic, cultural and political environment relevant to the ICRC, share relevant information with team members, and report any change in the situation
  • Implement protection activities under the supervision of the line manager
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of projects
  • Collect, compile, and interpret protection-related information (with appropriate care for staff risk management)
  • Analyze and contribute to written internal reporting and activity programming (as part of institutional exercises)
  • Help to make internal and external meetings meaningful (through preparation, participation, reporting and follow-up)
  • Develop and maintain contact with the municipal/regional authorities, local/regional National Society branches, the local population, suppliers, etc
  • Prepare, participate in, and report on all aspects of field assignments
  • May support and supervise staff in the implementation and monitoring of field projects
  • Foster a conducive environment (multidisciplinary approach, good team dynamic) among team members
  • Ensure the sustainability of their work and puts in place a system for archiving their work for the purposes of institutional memory

About you

To be successful as Field Protection Officer in the Dnipro Sub-Delegation, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:  

  • Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
  • University degree or relevant professional experience
  • 3-5 years’ previous professional experiences, for instance in the field of social/political/economic science or similar
  • Excellent command (written and spoken) of English and Ukrainian/Russian
  • Computer literacy
  • Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
  • Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
