Job Description

The primary function of the Engineering Communications Assistant (Distribution) involves the provision of WASH NFI (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene, Waste Management and IPC ) during ongoing emergency response. The International Medical Corps is based on the development of the capacity of the WASH component, including the work and training of national staff and direct recipients of the organization's services. Main tasks andresponsibilities  

  • Participate in the initial joint rapid assessment conducted by the WASH and Health teams for the implementation of the integrated program. Ensuring proper selection of beneficiaries for NFI WASH distribution in line with international WASH standards, working with the WASH team (expert, manager and coordinator).
  • Take the lead in distributing water, non-food items to beneficiaries located in area of ​​activity of the International Medical Corps.
  • Cooperate and make donations of kits for the prevention of infections and appropriate cleaning agents to targeted medical institutions.
  • Contribute to the proper promotion of health and hygiene among the staff of medical institutions, patients and their caregivers; 
  • Ensure that SPHERE and WHO standards (both qualitative and quantitative) are considered throughout the program cycle and well documented; 
  • Provide the team with regular updates and technical guidance on progress, priorities and issues – verbally and in writing. In addition, it is necessary to work closely with the WASH team (professional and manager) to obtain the necessary technical guidance and directions for the WASH intervention. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a recognized university. 
  • At least six months of experience in water distribution, WASH-NFI and other WASH-related activities in the context of Ukraine. 
  • Experience of working in an emergency context is desirable, including assessment, design and implementation of hygiene promotion activities in a humanitarian and development context
  • Knowledge of WASH linkages with other humanitarian sectors is an advantage
  • Ability to effectively present information (both written and verbal) and appropriately respond to questions from management, colleagues, government officials. 
  • Ability to understand gender issues in beneficiary groups is an advantage. 
  • Knowledge of the English language is desirable. Fluency in English will be an advantage.
