About the Position We are looking for a skilled Senior QA Automation Engineer to join our client's team. Reporting directly to the Team Lead, you will function as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for quality and testing within a high-velocity platform engineering group. Your focus will center on ensuring the integrity of API management systems and advanced integration technologies.

Responsibilities

Quality Leadership & Strategy

• Formulate and execute a comprehensive testing blueprint that mirrors the platform’s architectural design and integration flows.
• Advocate for modern quality engineering methodologies, guaranteeing streamlined and impactful testing throughout every software layer.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to fellow engineers regarding advanced testing protocols, automation logic, and performance checks.
• Define and monitor essential quality benchmarks and KPIs to boost test reliability, broaden coverage, and increase deployment certainty.
• Uphold rigorous quality standards and workflows, refining them continuously based on internal metrics and user requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with internal departments—including DevOps, Product, and Engineering—as well as client-facing teams to enhance overall product excellence.
• Serve as a vital link between technical development and customer success teams to transform user insights into tangible quality upgrades.

Test Design & Automation

• Oversee the architecture and rollout of both automated and manual testing suites for API layers, data repositories, and service mesh elements like Envoy.
• Utilize the test automation pyramid principle to ensure a balanced distribution of unit, integration, and comprehensive end-to-end tests.
• Construct and optimize durable test frameworks and CI/CD pipelines designed specifically for Kubernetes and microservices environments.

Risk & Performance Management

• Detect and report potential quality bottlenecks, coverage gaps, or workflow inefficiencies within the development lifecycle.
• Lead performance-driven testing for data streams, APIs, and distributed architectures utilizing industry tools such as JMeter, Gatling, or k6.
• Partner with key stakeholders to rank and execute quality-focused initiatives in a prompt, quantifiable manner.

Platform Expertise

• Acquire a deep technical understanding of the ecosystem, including Java-based services, Envoy proxies, Valkey caching, and MongoDB/Postgres databases.
• Drive engineering excellence by pushing for resilient, highly scalable integrations and superior quality deliverables.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software quality engineering or SDET capacities, with a heavy emphasis on distributed platforms, APIs, and backend architecture.
• Demonstrated proficiency in building and deploying automated testing frameworks for API-centric and microservices structures.
• Advanced coding proficiency in Java for developing automation tools and scripts.
• In-depth knowledge of API testing (REST, gRPC), encompassing schema validation, contract testing, and sophisticated mocking techniques.
• Practical familiarity with Valkey (or Redis), MongoDB, and PostgreSQL, specifically regarding data integrity and performance validation.
• Direct experience with Kubernetes, including executing tests within orchestrated and containerized landscapes.
• Comprehensive grasp of the test automation pyramid and its practical implementation in large-scale technical environments.
• Background in load and performance testing via tools such as JMeter, Gatling, or k6, including the ability to analyze results for system optimization.
• Superior debugging and analytical capabilities, maintaining a proactive stance on solving quality-related challenges.
• Strong collaborative and communication skills, with the capacity to guide cross-functional groups and champion quality initiatives.
• Experience operating within Agile/Scrum frameworks and a commitment to evolving testing practices.
