WASH Coordinator in People in Need

The organization "Man in Need" has been operating in Ukraine since the beginning of August 2014, and since then, humanitarian programs have been rapidly expanding. Currently, "Lyudyna v bidi" is one of the main humanitarian organizations in Ukraine that provides neutral and independent humanitarian assistance to people affected by the conflict.

General Position Information

Under the overall direction of the Emergency Assistance Programs Manager, provides management and implementation of water, hygiene and sanitation projects.

Specific duties and responsibilities

• Performs direct management and implementation of water, hygiene and sanitation projects sanitation
• Conducts needs assessment and technical assessment, including visits to water/sewer stations, boiler houses (for district heating), institutions (schools, medical centers, social centers), in addition to observations and interviews with companies that provide utility services, and staff of institutions.
• Provides technical support and supervision of project stages (start of implementation, handover), covering the following aspects where experience is important candidate:
• Renewable and backup energy for the target institutions or institutions mentioned above.
• Solar and wind energy as part of an autonomous hybrid smart alternative energy system.
• Testing /preparation of the profile of demand and energy consumption.
• Development/revision of the project of alternative energy systems if necessary based on demand analysis.
• Comparison of the optimal state of energy proposed systems with a location profile.
• Consults and collaborates with service providers and contractors to design and implement proposed alternative renewable energy systems.
• Regularly provides necessary information and reports on implementation progress and performance of works;

• Supports the procurement process - in particular, preparation of requests for relevant materials, equipment and work with determination of specifications and quantity, approval of characteristics with the director of the eastern region;
• If necessary, provides support during the examination of technical documentation;
• Ensures the implementation of the project in accordance with legal and state regulations, guaranteeing the use of standards in each specific case;

• Performs regular visits to facilities to check the quality of work and provide consultations at a timeand necessary;
• Ensures the preparation and processing of project documentation: reports, tables and other accompanying documentation;
• Quality control and verification of project documentation, construction and assembly works and design and estimate documentation;< /li>
• Monitors proper receipt and use of transferred equipment and services;
• Ensures compliance with minimum international standards in humanitarian activities;

• Follows the PIN Code of Conduct.

Experience and qualifications required

• Higher education in the field of civil construction and engineering. Preferably - specialty "Water supply and drainage";
• At least 2 years of work experience in the infrastructure of centralized heating systems and the WASH sector. 
• At least 1 year of management experience.; 
• Practical experience in the WASH/energy sector;
• At least a basic understanding of humanitarian aid or development programs in emergencies would be an advantage;
• Proficiency in English (B1+) will be an advantage;
• Ability to work in a team;
• High level of self-organization and self-control;
• Ability to work under tight deadlines;
• Attention for details;
