FHI 360 - international non-profit a humanitarian organization that works in more than 70 countries and works to improve the quality of life in a sustainable way, implementing integrated solutions based on local initiatives.The crisis response department of FHI 360 implements the crisis program response in Ukraine, which combines health and protection measures aimed at reducing mortality and morbidity among the population affected by the conflict.A key component of the project is building the capacity of health workers on modern protocols for the treatment of cardiac and pulmonary diseases, as well as with detection of cases of such diseases FHI 360 engages a cardiologist / pulmonologist to provide consulting services for 6 months to develop. and conducting trainings in cardiology and pulmonology for medical workers.

Detailed description of the tasks to be performed:

Trainer-consultant in cardiology and pulmonologyis responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of trainings in cardiology and pulmonology aimed at increasing the potential of primary care practitioners in matters diagnosis, treatment and referral of common cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases. The trainings will be held in the cities of Kryvyi Rih, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzhia.

The trainings will be based on both standard protocols of the Ministry of Health and international medical protocols. The curriculum will include (but not be limited to) an overview of guidelines, current trends in management, analysis of cases of common heart and pulmonary diseases in Ukraine:

  • secondary and resistant hypertension
  • cardiomyopathy
  • asthma
  • chronic obstructive lung diseases

The trainer-consultant in cardiology will perform the following main tasks:

  • Develop a training plan and industry-specific training materials for cardiology and pulmonology training on all topics defined by FHI 360.
  • Develop initial and final testing for cardiology and pulmonology training to assess acquired knowledge and skills, facilitate accreditation for BPR points . 
  • In cooperation with specialists of public health programs, assess the training needs of medical institutions in each region where program activities are implemented, participate in the development of a training plan for cardiology and pulmonology. 
  • Organize and conduct trainings in cardiology and pulmonology for health workers in each region where the program activity is implemented (both for specialists of FHI 360 mobile teams and for public primary health care facilities). Compile training reports in a form standard for FHI 360.
  • Conduct trainings for volunteers of public health programs on topics related to cardiovascular disease and ways to prevent chronic respiratory diseases. 
  • Participate in the development of printed materials necessary for conducting trainings on cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases. 
  • Manage the collection of programmatic data on chronic disease training programs within the FHI 360 data monitoring and evaluation program.
  • In collaboration with the technical oversight specialist, create short videos related to cardiovascular diseases as part of the FHI 360 health education and promotion campaign, addressed to both health professionals and the general audience. 
  • Together with specialists from the Department of Public Health Programs, determine the need to participate in scheduled and unscheduled meetings on issues related to cardiovascular diseases, chronic pulmonary diseases, and support for medical facilities. 

Place of the assignment: the assignment will be performed at the FHI 360 office in Dnipro, in designated FHI 360 regional offices and training venues (usually FHI 360 training halls and hotels). 

Planned workload: 61 days

Involvement period: January 6, 2025 - June 30, 2025

Type of contract: Service Agreement

Required:< /span>

  • Higher education in a medical specialty. 
  • Specialization in cardiology and/or pulmonology. 
  • From 3 years of work experience in a medical institution (in an outpatient or inpatient setting).
  • Confirmed experience in conducting trainings or education for medical workers. 
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal workmanagement.
  • Developed public speaking skills.
  • Fluency in the Ukrainian language.
  • Familiarity with MS Office programs, in particular Microsoft Word , Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Super high level of organization and attention to detail. 
  • Willingness to work during business trips to other cities. 

Desirable:

    • From 1 year of professional experience in teaching or conducting trainings. 
    • Experience in conducting trainings on the topics of cardiovascular and/or pulmonary diseases and disorders, providing palliative care.
    • Fluency in English. 
    • Experience of conducting trainings for family doctors and medical workers using methods of teaching adults and children. 
    • Experience of working in an NGO.

    • Degree of compliance with mandatory qualification requirements - 50%, additional requirements - 10%
    • Interview - assessment of professional knowledge (40%)
