Objective: Filling the vacant position of Technology Manager to ensure technical excellence, stability and development of the organization's IT systems. Combination of technical lead and manager roles to effectively manage internal team, contractors and technical strategy in a resource-constrained environment.

Requirements:

  • Higher technical education (Computer Science, Software Engineering or related industry).
  • Experience in the position of Tech Lead, Senior Software Engineer or IT Manager for at least 3 years.
  • Experience of managing small distributed development teams.
  • Experience of interacting with contractors (outsourcers/vendors) and successfully accepting their work will be a significant advantage.
  • Understanding the specifics of the work of the charity sector (as an advantage) and motivation on the result, not on the process.
  • Proficiency in competent Ukrainian language.
  • Proficiency in English at B2+ level
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, technology stacks (backend, frontend, databases), cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP) and DevOps principles.
  • Confident command of Agile/Scrum/Kanban. Understanding of the SMART approach to setting tasks.
  • Understanding the basic principles of cyber security, data protection and access control.
  • Experience with version control systems (Git), CI/CD, project management systems (Jira/Trello), analytics and monitoring tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and cost-efficiency mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills: the ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple words.
  • Proactivity and responsibility for the final result.
  • Systemic thinking and the ability to see the big picture.

Functional responsibilities:

1. Team and people management:

  • Conducting regular 1-to-1 meetings with technical specialists, tracking the dynamics of their professional development and forming individual growth plans.
  • Setting tasks according to the SMART methodology with clear and understandable acceptance criteria (Definition of Done).
  • Creating and maintaining a culture of quality code review, mentoring and active exchange of knowledge within the team.

2. Technical strategy and architecture:

  • Responsibility for the technical feasibility of new solutions, finding the optimal ratio of costs (time, budget) to the achieved result (Cost-efficiency).
  • Key participation in decision-making with further evaluation of their effectiveness.
  • Selection and approval of technological stacks, platforms and development tools, considering long-term support and varfather-in-law of possession.

3. Development processes and methodology:

  • Implementation and support of an effective development methodology (Agile/Scrum/Kanban or hybrid), adapted to the needs of the organization.
  • Ensuring control of the full development life cycle.
  • Control of timely updates, technical support and continuous operation of all systems.

4. Technical documentation and quality:

  • Ensuring the creation and relevance of technical documentation at the team level (administration, architecture, instructions).
  • Organization and regular conduct of internal code reviews and audits of technical solutions to ensure sustainability and reliability of products.
  • Control of compliance of technical implementation with approved requirements and quality standards.

5. Infrastructure and environments:

  • Setting up and control of development environments (Dev / Stage / Prod), ensuring their isolation and stability.
  • Ensuring regular backups, availability and testing of recovery plans (Disaster Recovery), as well as control of migration and data cleaning within digital transformation.

6. Analytics and Performance:

  • Responsible for setting up analytics systems, technical dashboards and performance metrics to monitor systems health.
  • Conducting technical performance evaluations of both the internal team and involved contractors.

7. Security and access:

  • Participation in the implementation of cybersecurity policies and guidelines within the digital transformation.
  • Ensuring technical measures for system security, stability and data protection (especially sensitive information of beneficiaries and donors) at the internal team level.
  • Advising on access management policies and architectural restrictions from the point of view of security.

8. Interaction with product and stakeholders:

  • Advising management on technical risks, limitations and potential opportunities.
  • Ensuring technical transparency: clearly explaining deadlines, implementation complexity and trade-offs to non-professionals.
  • Maintaining a balance between development speed (to respond quickly to needs), high quality and system stability.
