GENERAL INFORMATION

BF "Right to Defense" (Fund) - a charitable organization focusing its activities on providing assistance to internally displaced persons (IDPs), persons in need of international protection, stateless persons, persons at increased risk of statelessness and persons without documents. The Fund is an executive partner of the UNHCR and implements programs for the provision of direct legal assistance throughout Ukraine, promotes changes in the national legal framework, bringing it into line with international standards in the field of human rights.  

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The position will operate within the project "Complex protection services for the affected civilian population and strengthening of resilience for those who work on the front line response", implemented with the support of the USAID Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance (BHA).In the framework of the project, comprehensive protection services are provided for victims, vulnerable groups of the population in the cities and regions of Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia.

Among the activities of the project, in particular, legal, psychological support, social services, work with communities and increasing the resilience of first-line response services. The project will place special emphasis on helping such vulnerable population groups as IDPs, the elderly and people with disabilities, persons whose housing was damaged or destroyed, and who suffered as a result of hostilities. These persons live in remote, de-occupied, border areas and districts close to the demarcation line.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identification of persons with disabilities and/or elderly persons in need of social support;

  • Assessing the needs of beneficiaries in social services and social assistance;

  • Provision of social services: Care at home (assistance in self-care, movement in domestic conditions, housekeeping, organizing interaction with other specialists and services; assistance in providing technical means of rehabilitation, training in the skills of using them; informationspeech and representation of interests)as needed;

  • Assistance to identified affected persons / beneficiaries in obtaining additional services (medical, social, psychological, legal, provision of temporary shelter etc.), in particular through referral, if necessary, to the relevant general or specialized support services for victims and/or other subjects;

  • Maintaining contact with local authorities and its institutions, as well as other humanitarian organizations;

  • Participation in conducting public educational events aimed at increasing the level of public awareness regarding the maintenance of mental health and psycho-emotional state in emergency conditions;

  • Participation in writing analytical reports and performing other ongoing tasks within the project implementation;

  • Understanding and following the Code of Conduct and other policies of the Foundation.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Higher education in the field of social, psychological or humanitarian sciences will be an advantage;

  • Excellent communication skills;

  • Understanding humanitarian principles;

  • Understanding the privacy policy in accordance with the legislation on the collection of personal data;

  • Understanding current legislation, types and main measures for the provision of social services

  • Experience of work in state / non-state organizations of the social sphere and with people with reduced mobility is mandatory;

  • Experience working with internally displaced persons will be an advantage;

  • Ability to speak the client's language and prepare educational materials;

  • Ability to establish contact with other colleagues and coordinate joint tasks.
