International Solidarity (Si) is an international humanitarian non -governmental organization that provides assistance to the population, which is victims of armed conflicts and disasters. In particular, Si is involved in the fight against dangerous water -related diseases, which is one of the causes of death in the world. Si provides examination in the field of access to drinking water, improving the conditions of sanitation and hygiene, as well as in the field of food safety and livelihood. SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian NGO which, for more than 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their vital needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly involved in the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the first cause of death in the world, SI's interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in around twenty countries, SI's teams - 2000 people in total made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, and a few volunteers - work with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.
Solidarites International (SI) is determined to prevent and fight all type of abuse – all act of exploitation, abuse and/or sexual harassment (SEAH) against members of beneficiary communities or collaborators, fraud, corruption, violation of persons and/or property, funding of activities harmful to human rights – that could be perpetrated in the frame of its interventions. Under the supervision of the WASH-Shelter Program Manager, the WASH-Shelter Officer will lead and supervise work projects, respecting deadlines and technical requirements.
DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:
Set-up and operational monitoring
- Under the supervision of the Program Manager take part in logistical and administrative organization and the planning and preparation of job sites
- Ensure the construction and/or the maintenance of construction work using Solidarites International tools (in particular):
- Supervise operational teams, contractors and communities, and ensure the best use of available resources
- Organize, plan and supervise community participation
- Anticipate any problems associated with the management of his/her activity and propose solutions to avoid them
- Manage the supply of worksite materials by collaborating with the logistics department
- Report to the project manager and/or team leader on the state of decentralized stock (‘field’ stock) on his/her sites.
- Take part to the evaluation of the technical competence of contractors
- Respect Solidarites administrative procedures before, during and after each work project
- Establish safety and security measures for each activity and ensure that these rules are respected by the workforce under his/ her supervision and by the population
Reporting/communication /representation
- Keep his/her monitoring tools and files archived in the Solidarites office, accessible to his/her team leader and/or project manager
- Take part in the drafting of project progress reports under the supervision of his/her team leader
- Take part in seminars and workshops related to the carrying-out of activities and to project objectives
- Report to the Program Manager regarding the development of activities and specific tasks that he/she has been assigned, any problems encountered and the quality of relations with the beneficiaries
- Report back all information or problems linked to his/her activity, Solidarites programs or safety issues
- Listen to the local population and authorities in order to identify any needs, complaints, or major events which could affect the activities of Solidarites
- Analyze the humanitarian situation by taking into account protection issues/Do No Harm to the population
- Collaborate with local authorities and administration
- Take part in restitution meetings and clusters on request
PROFILE FORSAKEN:
Studies: Higher education in civil or industrial engineering, water supply and water treatment. Civil/ water engineering or technical degree in water/sewage engineering, construction and hydraulic
Experience: in a similar position in the humanitarian sector with technical skills in terms of water/shelter
Language: English is an asset, Ukrainian – native
IT: Professional with the use of MSc Office pack
Qualification: Excellent understanding of general construction process, ability to create list of works “to do” and materials needed, Good knowledge of national construction, water and sewage standards and (residential construction, general construction, civil engineering, water supply).
Soft skills: Responsibility, teamwork skills, communication skills, attention to details, punctuality, tactfulness.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Place of work: the office is located in the city of Dnipro, possible business trips to Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk regions
Contract: fixed-term contract (according to Ukrainian legislation)
Type of employment: full-time
Salary: 1240 EURO gross (paid in UAH according to the monthly rate of the bank of the European Commission).
Additionally: paid vacation 31 calendar days, paid family leave, life insurance.
