Retail Marketing Team Leader

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead the customer/RE segmentation process and work cross functionally to arrive at actions
  • Ensure overall 5P   strategies by RE across categories by utilizing Brand Growth Plans and Revenue Growth Management (RGM) to  drive business objectives

  • Lead the strategic and tactical development of Category Management processes by leveraging RE based analytics

  • Participate and drive thought leadership in top to tops, JVP meetings

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to lead and align the Quarterly P&L delivery (Top line & GTN)  

  • Co-lead all commercial processes for all categories   (i.e. Budget Planning, Monthly Discipline, RGM) by coordinating across all functions to ensure that commercial plans are robust and drive business objectives

  • Partner with Customer team leaders for to build capabilities by RE to be able to achieve business objectives


Functional Competencies:

TRADE UNDERSTANDING:

  • Understands the subsidiary’s go-to-market strategy
  • Understands the deliverables expected from retailers/middlemen
  • Knows the needs, operations, systems, priorities and strategies of customers
  • Customizes business solutions based on the requirements of different channels and retail environments

STRATEGIC THINKING:

  • Designs effective sales strategies and tactics for channels and accounts, resulting in increased distribution and better execution in-store
  • Grasps the conceptual framework of initiatives including brand strategy, the go-to-market strategy, channel development, category management, and the 5ps
  • Recognizes the dynamics driving change in the trade, and foresees the likely outcomes for Colgate, its customers, and consumers
  • Recognizes competitive factors in developing customer marketing and sales plans

CONSUMER AND SHOPPER INSIGHT:

  • Uses fact-based understanding of shopper behavior to tailor in-store programs for different retail environments
  • Uses consumer and shopper insights in assortment recommendations, promotion plans, and customer presentations and negotiations
  • Partners with consumer insight processionals to define business goals of shopper insight programs

CUSTOMER NEGOTIATION:

  • Pursues win-win solutions with persistence, compromise, and respect
  • Understands the emotions that drive customer behavior
  • Has the self-assurance to say “no” to the customer when necessary
  • Relies on facts to influence others

BUSINESS AND FINANCIAL ANALYSIS:

  • Understands the drivers of profitability and margins for Colgate and its customers
  • Manages account budget, profitability statements and gross to net reporting
  • Applies fact-based information such as consumer/shopper research, syndicated data, and financial analysis

FIELD EXECUTION:

  • Applies own-the-shelf strategy by category, retail environment and store format, resulting in greater alignment with the consumer, and increased sales
  • Monitors and evaluates in-store compliance with 5P guidelines, ensuring consumption, in-stock position and CP “own-the-store”

Requirements:

  • Higher Education Degree Required
  • 8 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in People management
  • English - upper-intermediate level
