Position description

The psychologist supports interaction TDH in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) at all stages of unaccompanied minor case management, assessment, planning, implementation, follow-up and review. Provide technical advice to the MHPSS, as well as develop and implement targeted and non-targeted PSS measures that meet the identified needs of unaccompanied children crossing the border from Ukraine.

The psychologist works closely with other mental health support entities and psychosocial support, including local authorities, to map and, where necessary, update referral pathways, support and strengthen existing interventions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

< strong>Cstrategy

  • Support MHPSS in assessing target group needs.
  • Mapping and identifying external mental health and PSS services for targeted referrals.
  • Develops appropriate MHPSS response and engagement strategies for MHPSS service delivery .

Direct service provision

  • Informing social workers about appropriate referral pathways for MHPSS cases.
  • Support training and mentoring of carers, health workers and interpreters to deliver non-specialized PSS activities.
  • Deliver individual and group PSS activities that meet identified needs and incorporate appropriate mental health approaches and models I (e.g., cognitive-behavioral therapy, humanistic, person-centered approach, systemic approach, etc.) for unaccompanied children; including psychoeducation and mental health awareness.
  • Control over compliance with international human rights and Ukrainian legislation.
  • Control over activities in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures Tdh and documentation requirements, adhere to core principles of the MHPSS Interagency Standing Committee Guidelines (eg, Do No Harm, multi-level support, privacy and data protection, coordination, etc.).
  • Support social workers in case management activities as needed (eg during assessment, case planning, referral, follow-up, case conferences, etc.).
  • Accompany members of the task force to government services and external actors as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Monitoring and Evaluation team to ensure timely submission of accurate reports and data in compliance with data protection and confidentiality protocols.
  • Ensure timely delivery of weekly plans and reports to Line Manager and Technical Lead.

Requirements:

Education / Qualification:higher psychological education. Knowledge of PFA and/or assisting organizational staff would be an advantage. Good knowledge of local MHPSS child care legislation and local and national referral pathways. 

Work experience:minimum 2 years of experience in a similar position in the industry. Previous experience working with children will be an advantage. Previous work experience in public organizations is desirable. A proven track record and experience working in emergency situations will be an advantage. 

Language knowledge:fluency in the Ukrainian language (oral and written); knowledge of English will be an advantage;

IT knowledge:good knowledge of IT(Microsoft Office, Internet).

ROLE DESCRIPTION 

The psychologist supports Tdh mental health and psychosocial support interventions (MHPSS) in all stag-es of case management activities for Unaccompanied Minors, assessment, planning, implementation, fol-low up and review, and closure of cases. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

Design and Strategy

  • Support with MHPSS needs assessments of the target population.
  • Support efforts to map and identify external mental health and PSS services for referrals.
  • Provides input into the design of relevant MHPSS response strategies and interventions to strengthen MHPSS service delivery.  

Direct Service Delivery

  • Keep social workers informed of relevant referral pathways for MHPSS cases. 
  • Support interventions to train and mentor caregivers, case workers and interpreters   to run non-specialised PSS activities.

  • Ensure that activities are delivered in line with international human rights and Ukraine Law.
  • Ensure that activities are implemented in line Tdh’s Standard Operation Procedures and documentation requirements, adhere to the fundamental principles of Interagency Standing Committee MHPSS Guidelines (e.g. Do No Harm, Multi-layered supports, confidentiality & data protection, coordination, etc.).
  • Support social workers with case management activities as requested (e.g. during assessment, case planning, referral, follow up, case conferences, etc.). 
  • Accompany target population members to public services and external actors if required.
  • Collaborate with the monitoring and evaluation team to ensure the timely submission of accurate reports and data respecting data protection protocols and confidentiality.
  • Ensure timely submission of weekly plans and reports to the line manager and technical supervisor.

YOUR PROFILE  

Education / QualificationsUniversity degree in PsychologyAbility to work under pressure and cope with challenging environmentsKnowledge of PFA and / or delivering organisational staff care would be an advantageGood knowledge of local legislation with regard to MHPSS care for children and local and national referral pathways. 

Experience:        At least 2 years’ experience in similar position in the field. Previous experience of working with children. Previous experience with an NGO is desirable. Proven track record and experience in emergencies would be an advantage. 

Languages: Fluency in Ukrainian (oral and written); knowledge of English will be an advantage;

IT Knowledges: Good IT knowledge (Microsoft Office, Internet).
