DRB has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, DRB already has more than 800 employees in Ukraine and will continue to expand significantly in 2024, for rapid response to the emergency situation in the sectors of social protection, provision of means of livelihood, provision of housing and non-food kits, humanitarian demining and peacebuilding (humanitarian demining), through direct intervention and support of authorized persons and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). DRB will continue to implement its set of long-term solutions to solve problems under changing circumstances.

DRB is currently looking for a highly qualified Specialist ) of the rural economic development project to work in our office in Chernihiv.

General purpose of the role:

Under the management of the Group Leader in economic recovery You will coordinate and manage the implementation of economic recovery measures in rural areas, including the provision of sectoral cash funds to farmers, grants to enterprises, vocational training support and business coaching. You will also work closely with communities, civil society organizations (CSOs) and government agencies. You will work in the Chernihiv office, and field activities will be carried out in Chernihiv region.

Your main duties will be:

  • Plan and implement/implement program activities related to economic recovery in rural areas, including but not limited to the provision of sectoral cash assistance to rural households, small and medium farms, distribution of business grants and capacity building micro and small business. 
  • Supporting the Head of the Economic Development Project Group in the preparation and updating of monthly work plans. 
  • Identify and inform the Project Team Leader and Manager about economic development/restoration needs in identified locations. Ensure the collection of both quantitative and qualitative information and data.
  • Coordinate work with colleagues in information management and take an active part in the analysis of collected information and data.
  • Organize information and educational activities, including the dissemination of key messages, the development and distribution of informational, educational and communication materials and the holding of information sessions, in accordance with the needs identified during monitoring. and coordination of work with stakeholders, key informants and community members. 
  • Mobilize and establish strong ties withcommunities through consistent interaction with local structures and adherence to approaches that take into account cultural characteristics and dignity. 
  • Supervise the work of Junior specialists of the economic development project and ensure the quality of their work.
  • Coordinate work with other departments of the DRB to improve the process of referrals and information exchange.
  • Contribute and provide field information for new project funding proposals.
  • Provide regular reports to the Economic Development Project Team Leader and/or Economic Development Project Manager.
  • Execute any what other tasks may be assigned by the economic development project team leader and/or economic development manager related to the achievement of economic recovery goals.

About you:

About you:

  • Higher education in business, economics, agriculture, social, humanitarian or other related fields. 
  • Understanding of business development, employment, finance, agriculture and/or economic recovery. 
  • Experience in the humanitarian field and understanding of business grants will be an advantage.
  • Ability to speak on sensitive topics and work with people who are in a difficult situation. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with vulnerable individuals, employees and stakeholders from various walks of life.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize tasks and manage multi-tasking.
  • Strong sense of personal integrity and understanding of privacy and ethics. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange, Windows operating systems.
  • Knowledge of the English language is desirable. 
  • Knowledge of the Ukrainian language is mandatory.
