About the program "Hero's Compass"

Hero's Compass is a therapeutic adventure program designed to support veterans on their journey to healing and reintegration. Through a combination of outdoor activities, art therapy and mentoring, this program promotes confidence, emotional resilience and a sense of community. Manager programs will play a key role in ensuring a cohesive and effective experience for every veteran.

Job Overview

The Program Manager is the primary point of contact and session organizer for the Hero's Compass program, accompanying veterans from preparation to completion. This role combines organizational and interpersonal skills to ensure logistics, establish trusting relationships with participants, and support the program's mission – the healing of veterans and their reintegration into society.Working together with the art therapist and the Veteran Mentor, the Program Manager will actively participate in all events, creating an atmosphere of safety, trust and respect.

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

Selection and registration ofterans

  • Checking and evaluating veterans' registration forms, participating in the process of selecting participants according to the provided criteria. 

  • Collaboration with the DTCare team to refine and adapt criteria as needed to achieve maximum therapeutic effect. 

Preparation for sessions 

  • Acting as the primary contact representative for veterans sessions, informing them of the program's expectations, rules, and schedule. 

  • Providing recommendations for materials, equipment and preparation for participation in the 7-day program. 

  • Participation in the Hero's Compass team training in February to learn about program requirements and best practices. 

  • Coordinating with the office team on logistical support, including travel arrangements, accommodation and supplies. 

Program management in place 

  • Presentation of the program "Hero's Compass" under session time: meeting participants, getting to know each other and creating a comfortable atmosphere. 

  • Overseeing all on-site logistical aspects, including transportation, lodging, and meals, to ensure the needs of veterans and the smooth running of the program. 

  • Work closely with Art Therapist and Veteran Mentor to manage schedule, communicate events and adapt to unforeseen circumstances. 

Participation and support 

  • Active participation in the plannedahodah with veterans, including adventure activities (such as hiking and team challenges). 

  • Addressing any questions or concerns of participants, providing support to enhance the therapeutic experience and maintain group engagement. 

  • Creating an atmosphere of trust and camaraderie among participants where veterans will feel comfortable communicating and participating. 

Final work after sessions 

  • Conducting member status checks for gathering feedback, evaluating results and providing follow-up support as needed. 

  • Prepare and present reports on program outcomes, including feedback analysis, logistical notes, and recommendations for improving future sessions. 

  • Keeping organized records and evaluations of each session to promote the development of the Hero's Compass program. 

Qualification requirements: 

  • At least 3 years of experience in program management, preferably in the field of therapy, adventure education or similar fields. 

  • Experience working with veterans or similar groups, especially in settings requiring sensitivity and confidentiality. 

  • Ability to coordinate and perform complex logistical tasks, willingness to quickly solve problems and adapt to changes. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build trust and rapport with a diverse group of veterans. 

  • Basic level of English language proficiency or higher. 

  • Knowledge of adventure therapy principles and understanding of trauma-focused practices is desirable. 

 

Terms of use: 

The Program Manager will spend a significant amount of time outdoors and must be prepared to be physically active in a variety of environments. Availability is required for pre-session preparation and post-session work.

Learning: 
Mandatory participation in training in February 2025 to familiarize with Hero's Compass methodology, team dynamics and program goals.
