Product Designer in Ernest

About the Role

The product team at Ernest is responsible for visioning, building, and executing on the roadmap to create the foundational technology serving a diverse set of stakeholders – construction project managers, skilled trade workers, general contractors, and property owners – allowing Ernest to deliver a best in class build experience.

We’re looking for a Product Designer to own the design of our construction management products. This role will be responsible for managing product design across two distinct product areas. You’ll be responsible for building our design language, maintaining our design system, and managing other designers.

What you’ll do:

• Lead design direction for construction project management tools
• Work with Product team to generate research plans and conduct user research activities to explore new product opportunities
• Create high-quality user interfaces and user flows with scalability in mind
• Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and internal stakeholders to inform your design decisions
• Simplify complex systems into easy-to-use designs which provide value to our end users. The construction industry historically operates with archaic systems, and we aim to design tools that redefine users’ expectations.
   

What you’ll need:

• 4+ years of experience of product design experience, preferably 2+ year of start up experience
• 2+ years of experience using Figma to deliver and collaborate on designs with remote engineering and product teammates
• Experience with design systems (familiarity React/Material UI based design systems nice-to-have)
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript is a plus
• Sufficient technical skills to communicate with engineers for pixel-perfect implementations
• Strong written and oral communication with internal and external stakeholders
• Attention to detail and ability to quickly grasp complex business processes and industry knowledge
• Ability to break down product requirements into iterative design phases
• High levels of curiosity, with a desire to consistently push the boundaries of the status quo
• (Nice to have) Full professional bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency
