Team summary

As a part of a SQUAD Product Design team, you will be working on a cross-platform mobile app designed for both iOS and Android. We’re a user-centric, fast-paced and collaborative team that works closely with other design, product, and engineering teams. Alongside talented designers and UX researchers, you will create scalable solutions that deliver value to customers worldwide. We are inspired by helping clear up any ambiguous design challenges.

Job Summary

To work on the design system, we are looking for a detail-oriented Product designer who can work on granular tasks while keeping an eye on the big picture.
You will be responsible for producing and maintaining documentation on components of the design system, as well as app paradigms and guidelines to encourage uniformity. Also, you will consistently promote the design system, and educate new and experienced team members on the system’s previous, current state, and future direction.

This position is suitable for people with disabilities and veterans with relevant experience.

Responsibilities and Duties

— Create new components, collaborating with feature teams and design system developers on specs, structure, and rules
— Make updates to existing components as needs arise
— Prepare component structure and usage documentation, as well as write information on paradigms, processes, and similar topics
— Review design system components in the dedicated app to ensure they follow all defined rules, visuals, and accessibility
— Be a resource for design and non-design audiences to consult with for advice on accessibility
— Work with teams to determine effective delivery dates of design system output
— Utilize data and research to drive design decision-making
— Onboard new teammates to the rules and processes of the design system
— Write effectively to communicate and justify design decisions to stakeholders
— Help create and maintain processes for managing, scaling, and updating the design system, along with continuing to be an advocate for the system

Qualifications and Skills

— 3+ years of experience as a Product Designer in designing for iOS and Android
— Advanced proficiency in designing with Figma
— Experience in creating reusable components and patterns, preparing supporting documentation
— Basic understanding of development principles to ensure feasibility of designs and effective collaboration with engineering teams
— Knowledge of user-centered design principles and techniques
— Effective communication and collaboration in a cross-team environment, including designers, developers, and product managers
— Proven skills in leading the design requirements independently to arrive at solutions
— Advanced English and confidence in presenting and sharing your work with stakeholders

— Proficiency with app design standards and accessibility compliance
— Understanding of designing experiences cross-platform
— Familiarity with tools for managing design systems
— Expertise in the design thinking process
