PR and Communication Specialist (full-time, Kyiv)

The Sustainable Economic Development Cluster of Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH comprises various projects implemented on behalf of the German government supporting Ukraine to develop a resilient and competitive economic sector.

Partners of the projects are Ukrainian ministries on the national level, administrations on regional level, stakeholders on the municipal level, and private sector companies. There are 7 projects in the cluster portfolio. 

To guarantee the proper communication of the projects’ goals and results, the cluster project “REYOIN: Economic integration of working age population in Ukraine” is looking for a qualified professional to fill the position of the PR and Communication specialist.” 

We are looking for a full-time PR & Communications Specialist with a firm grasp of political realities and sensitivity to support the development and implementation of the projects’ communication strategy with the aim to drive change through offline and online channels, to dynamically communicate to target audiences our work, key messages, and achievements. 

This position foresees occasional travel to implementation partners and stakeholders within in Ukraine as well as international travel to the EU. 

 

The PR and Communication Specialist is responsible for:

  • Steering the development and implementation of the Communication Strategy for the project REYOIN.
  • Delivering high quality communication products such as success stories, presentations, videos, press releases, newsletters, posts on websites, social media, fact sheets, etc. 
  • Identifying external communication services and agencies, prepare terms of references for contracts and accompany the implementation. 
  • Communication with the national press, national and regional partners, international donors and implementing organizations, other GIZ projects and the GIZ country office. 
  • Ensuring that the visibility & communication guidelines of the contracting authorities are respected by the project and its implementers.
  • Coordinating the visibility and communications outreach in close coordination with the management of the project.
  • Supporting the preparation of high-level visits and other events.
  • Strengthening capacities of partners in their external communication about the project. 
  • Supporting the project team in monitoring project results under the project M&E framework.

 

Required qualifications, competences, and experience:

  • University degree or comparable training in PR / Communication or equivalent education.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in the field of communication (Press and Public Relations, social media, Journalism or similar) - ideally in economics.
  • Proven experience in liaising with stakeholders such as government officials, private sector, civil society and the press.
  • High proficiency in written and spoken Ukrainian and English. Knowledge of German is an asset.
  • Very good oral and writing skills; competent and confident style of communication and presentation with public and target-oriented groups; Experience with production of media for different information channels; Experience in control and briefing of service providers and agencies.
  • Very good working knowledge of IT technologies (related software) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office). Knowledge of publishing and graphics applications are desired.
  • Ability to work flexibly and self-organized, also under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the Ukrainian government's reform agenda, in particular in the field of economic development and labor market.

Employment conditions

Full-time position with 40-hours working week. Place of assignment is Kyiv. Starting as soon as possible. The contract duration will be till end of October 2027.
