The DCA country programme in Ukraine has focused on various humanitarian interventions and is starting its implementation of Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA).About the jobThe Medic is part of the HMA unit and is expected to work in a participatory manner with the rest of HMA unit, NGO representatives and other stakeholders to deliver medical service and to gather, disseminate and document information on the presence and impact of explosive remnants of war.The position will be based in Kyiv and include regular travels to field implementation sites depending on the security situation.Specific Duties and Responsibilities:Understand and strictly adheres to Medical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Has a general understanding of all Standard Operating Procedures and IMAS Standards.Provides immediate pre-hospital emergency medical care and cover to all DCA personnel and any stakeholder on site in their area of operation while on duty.Stabilizes the casualty in the event of an accident as per SOP and level of training.Under the direction of the Team Leader, are positioned at the relevant minimum safety distance from operational activities.Assists and advises on the hygiene of the general team members and the survey sites.The Emergency Trauma Bag, Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK), Vehicle First Aid Kit and Casualty collection equipment are complete, serviceable and adequate for the task as per SOPs. This includes the designated ambulance.Conducts CASEVAC exercises as required and outlined in the Medical SOP and at a minimum once a month.Provide continuous Medical and CASEVAC refresher training to all staff members attached to his/ her team.Ensure that all field documentation in the Site Medical File is completed and updated daily in accordance with DCA SOP and IMAS standards.Administers treatment for small day to day injuries sustained by team members while on duty and actively engaged with work activities.Carries out trauma care and first aid medical instruction to other DCA staff when requiredCarries out any other duties, as directed by Team Leader or TA, to meet operational requirements.The applicants we’re looking for includes:Minimum of certificate/diploma in nursing/clinical medicine or relevant qualifications in Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Care. Please note, Candidates with a Nursing background specializing in Midwifery will not be considered at this time.Certificate in Advance life support (ALS), Internationally certified courses such as ACLS, ITLS or PHTLS will be an advantage. Please note, Pre-Hospital Emergency Care staff certified as Basic Life Support only will not be considered at this time.At least 3-5 years of experience working with Mine Action Organisation as Medic would be an advantage.At a minimum candidates are required to demonstrate at least 5 years' experience in Accident & Emergency Units, Intensive Care Units or relevant Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Service.Very strong communication skills (oral and written English)Good computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.)A team player with an open, compassionate, humorous disposition.Physically fit, Flexible and Ability to work with team members under pressure and stress conditions.Candidate ready to embrace the four DanChurchAid values of compassion, proactive, responsible, and respectful.Shortlisted candidates will be expected to pass a Written Medical Assessment.We offer:A 12-month national contract, renewable based on funding and performance.A competitive salary package in the INGO sector.An interesting and challenging experience addressing humanitarian needs.A dynamic, flexible and respectful working environment that will give you the freedom to work and support to succeed, and the opportunity to grow and advance within the organisation.All interested candidates irrespective of age, gender, race, religion, or ethnic affiliation are encouraged to apply for the vacancy.
