Position duties:
General Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with NRC policies and procedures (global and national), manuals and guidelines and/or propose new ones initiatives to address gaps and their implementation.
- Participate in the development of systems and policies and ensure their proper implementation.
- Identify, analyze and evaluate key processes and gaps in team performance and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Communicate and collaborate with relevant local authorities and/or stakeholders.
Specific duties:
- Support the implementation of the NRC Protection Policy and global protection standards within the framework of work with the coordinator and manager of protection issues at the NRC Representative Office in Ukraine.
- Carry out project activities in coordination with the security manager.
- Develop security tools and guidance and continually update security action plans to ensure integrated and secure programming.
- Support training, capacity building and mentoring of staff in the field, as well as raise awareness among freelancers (contractors and incentivized workers) of minimum standards of protection.
- Identify gaps in field protection support and provide direct supervision of any additional field protection personnel to ensure program management support for specific program initiatives and staff mentoring.
- Convene regular meetings of program coordinators (on protection issues)to ensure the quality of defense referrals in accordance with internal NRC policies.
- Develop strong working relationships at the Regional Office level , Eastern region and on the ground with external protection actors and referral partners. Represent the NRC at the local level in defense coordination meetings.
- Regularly update contextual analysis of key security trends and participate in program development discussions.
General professional competencies for this position: span>
- Experience as a protection specialist in a humanitarian/restorative context
- Previous experience working in difficult and unstable environments
- Documented results, related with job duties
- Experience in coordination and interaction with external entities
- Experience in developing and conducting security training and good presentation skills in Ukrainian/Russian/English
- Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently and proactively with limited daily support and supervision
Skills, knowledge and experience related to the context:
- Knowledge of the context of Ukraine and the wider crisis
- Knowledge of global protection standards and relevant norms of international law

- Work schedule from 9 to 17, Saturday/Sunday off
