The German Embassy Kyjiw is looking for 

at a date yet to be determined in the first half of the year 2026

one locally employed interpreter and translator (m/f/d)

• This is a full-time position (40 hours per week).

• An initially limited-term employment contract is offered, with the option of a permanent contract after one year if the cooperation is maintained.

• Contract conditions and remuneration are based on the German Embassy's model employment contract. 

• The starting salary (40 hour week) is currently 2,734 euros gross. Your location is Kyiv. If you do not live in Kyiv, we assume that you are willing to move your center of life to Kyiv.

The activity includes the following tasks:

• Interpreting in the language pair Ukrainian-German, occasionally in Ukrainian-English at appointments of embassy staff as well as accompanying delegations, government consultations and Departmental negotiations

• Production of translations and contents of incoming and outgoing letters and correspondence in the above-mentioned languages

• Translation of intergovernmental and other contracts, agreements, protocols, speech texts for the embassy and the Foreign Office

You should have the following qualifications have:

• Excellent written and spoken German and Ukrainian skills

• Desired: Very good written and spoken English skills

• Several years of professional experience in the field of translation and interpreting (simultaneous and consecutive)

• Completed university degree in philology (German studies/interpreting/translating)

• In-depth general knowledge of politics, economics and culture in Germany and Ukraine

• Willingness to familiarize yourself with new topics in terms of language and content

• Good user knowledge of standard word processing programs (e.g. Word, Excel) and willingness to undergo further training

• Fluency in language, confidence and Polite demeanor

• Willingness to accompany business trips within the country

• Team spirit, high resilience and willingness to work flexible hours

• Excellent social and intercultural skills

The selection process consists of two sections: a written test and an oral test. Only those applicants who have successfully passed the written test will be invited to the second part. 

After a successful selection process, health suitability must be proven by a medical examination by the embassy's partner doctor before employment. A personal/security check is also carried out. Your willingness to participate is assumed.
