This position will play a key role in our organization's operations by engaging in and executing on all importing and freight operations. In this position, you will have the exciting responsibility of optimizing and managing the day-to-day movements of our products from factory to warehouse and distribution centers, contributing to cost savings, and enhancing overall operational efficiency. You will support strategic initiatives to streamline and improve the inbound logistics and distribution processes throughout our global supply chain.Who You Are:You are excited about supply chain and freight and are eager to leverage data and platforms and strengthen external partnerships to drive operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a track record in inbound operations, with a particular focus on ocean freight in transpacific lanes. They’re strong decision makers, think outside of the box to problem solve, and proactively communicate with stakeholders along the way.Responsibilities:Quote, book, and manage all ocean and air freight shipments from overseas factories to distribution centers in the USProcess inbound receipts on a daily basis for all imports, flagging abnormalities and receiving errors in collaboration with our 3PLPartner directly with our freight forwarders, drayage providers, and 3PL on all components of the port-to-door movementsManage inbounds from our returns distribution center to various destinationsProactively compare production schedules with shipments and provide priority lists + advanced ship notices to the appropriate logistics partnersDetermine and maintain product information relating to carton & pallet dimensions, container utilization, & HTS nomenclatureMonitor and report on predefined Inbound Operations’ KPI’sDevelop an understanding of our Inbounds Operations tech stack for workflow optimization and opportunitiesCoordinate air shipments of sample & seeding units for our content teamCirculate system-driven insights and flag any freight operations updates that may have business impact to relevant stakeholdersCollaborate cross-functionally with internal operation team members to drive continuous improvement and operational best practicesKnowledge, skills, and abilities:1-2 years experience in supply chain operations at a shipper/BCO/retailer Minimum 1 year of experience in ocean freight and importing operations Experience with digitally native, high-growth, eCommerce-first consumer product companies preferredStrong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members and supply chain partnersExperience with ERPs, systemic receiving, and supply chain platforms such as Flexport is a mustProficient in Excel and strong analytical skillsBachelor’s in supply chain or a similar field of studyWilling to roll up sleeves; no job is too small attitudeFlexibility to adapt to changing situations and priorities during global freight eventsCaraway Life:Caraway is an exciting, fully remote DTC retail startup company that is bringing kitchenware and home goods into the modern era, leading from a non-toxic and sustainable foundation.Team: You will be joining a passionate and collaborative fully-remote team that prides itself on high-quality work, supporting one another, sharing our successes, and building a brand we truly love, together.Culture: At Caraway, we value continuous learning and career growth.
