DRB exists in Ukraine since 2014. At the moment, more than 800 employees work in the DRB in total on the territory of Ukraine. In 2024, the DRB will continue to significantly expand to implement emergency response in the social and legal protection, livelihoods, housing reconstruction and humanitarian disarmament and peacebuilding (humanitarian demining) sectors.
DRB is currently looking for a Project Team Leader of social and legal protection to carry out activities related to population protection, with an office location in m. Slovyansk.
About the job:
Under the leadership of the Protection Manager Head of the Social and Legal Project Group protection will supervise the implementation of measures with social protection, including assisting in the protection of vulnerable groups, disseminating information and sharing key messages, protection assessment and monitoring. Will be responsible for the management and supervision of the social justice team, providing technical support and leadership to the teams. Will be responsible for planning in coordination with other units in the DRB. Will participate in coordination meetings and will represent DRB at relevant forums.
Your main responsibilities languages will:
- Manage and oversee protection activities, including support for vulnerable groups (cash and in-kind assistance), referral mechanisms, protection monitoring activities and evaluation.
- Manage the social and legal protection team by providing support, facilitating team meetings, performing performance reviews and recruitment/onboarding of new protection staff .
- Plan and conduct protection monitoring activities, including household surveys, focus group discussions and interviews with key informants, issues of documents in the field of protection shared by protected persons, and protection of their interests, where appropriate, at the level of coordination forums.
- Support the development of monitoring reports on social and legal protection, contribute to the development of protection monitoring tools and formats when necessary.
- Develop and conduct outreach activities, on protection and information sessions for protected persons. Develop contextualized key messages and materials for awareness raising and information sessions.
- Develop work plans for project activities and track progress in implementing project goals and indicators.
- Maintain project cost monitoringon budgets and providing timely feedback on follow-up budget actions.
- Plan and coordinate project logistics plans and team movement, as well as initiate procurement for project supplies.
- Coordinate with other organizations and stakeholders working in the same field to ensure integrated and effective social protection. .
- Participate in coordination meetings and DRB representation at relevant forums; develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant partner institutions, community coordinators and service providers.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting to donors, as well as maintain and update program documentation.
- Promote and provide, in accordance with the situation on the ground, proposals for financing new projects.
- Regularly report to the Social and Legal Protection Manager.
About You
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have an interest in social justice and human rights, as well as previous management or team management experience.
In addition, we expect the following:
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in civil society organizations, NGOs or in social work
- Awareness of topics related to protection, human rights, work with vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities or the elderly.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with vulnerable groups, employees and stakeholders from different walks of life.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple responsibilities.
- Strong sense of personal decency and understanding of privacy and ethics.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange, Windows operating systems.
- Above average English language proficiency (speaking/reading/writing ).
- Knowledge of the Ukrainian language at an advanced level is required.
- Education required: Higher education in the field of law, human rights, social work, social sciences, humanities or in another related field.
