The USAID Harvest Activity enables supported male and female grain and oilseed farmers, including marginalized and underserved groups, to return production and income for target commodities to at least pre-war levels while improving production efficiency and profitability and position farmers to market their crops more successfully and profitably in the wartime context.
Position Description:
The Grain and Oilseed Sector Project Manager identifies, advocates, and promotes the co-design development of grain and oilseed technical programming aimed at supporting Harvest Activity grain and oilseed farmers. The Grain and Oilseed Sector Project Manager will also conduct ongoing analysis and network building to identify agribusiness projects, best practices, and innovations in production based on their applicability and implementation capacity in the indicated geographical sector of responsibility.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the development, update and implementation of Harvest’s work plan as related to regional sector grain and oilseed technical programming.
Cultivate opportunities and project support for online platforms and sustainable, climate smart production innovations.
Identify new opportunities, promote appropriate collaborations, identify possible interventions and scale-up best practices.
Develop projects with input and other service providers to build capacity to bundle appropriate, end-market aligned extension advisory support with sales of goods or other services to micro to medium sized farmers.
Collaborate with cross-technical teams to ensure productivity and other relevant thematic project activities are aligned with overarching Harvest objective goals.
Prepare sections of reports, plans, success stories and similar documents as requested.
Perform other appropriate tasks as requested.
Qualifications
University degree in agronomy, natural or environmental sciences, or in other fields if relevant experience and knowledge of agriculture and related environmental issues can be demonstrated.
Minimum eight years of experience.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills, proven ability to build relationships and foster collaboration.
Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, to take the initiative, and to meet deadlines.
Proven research and analytical skills, ability to process and summarize complex information.
Experience in achieving specific results in the field of project activities, development and implementation of measures for the development of the agricultural sector
Well versed in project management professional norms, including mastery of work breakdown structure creation, scheduling, etc. Superior interpersonal, public speaking, and team building skills.
Experienced user of MS Office 365 applications. Use Microsoft Teams as needed to carry out tasks and collaborate with other activity staff.
Demonstrated success working in a multinational, multilingual team under pressure and tight deadlines.
Native speaker of Ukrainian.
English sufficient for professional purposes and to understand written communications related to the work.
Supervision and Reporting
The Grain and Oilseed Sector Project Manager reports to and is directly supervised by the Objective 1: Grain and Oilseed Productivity Team Lead.
Location
This position is preferred to be based in Kyiv, Ukraine, but candidates working/living in other parts of Ukraine may be considered.
Level of Effort
This assignment is full time and long-term employment. The assignment will begin upon receiving USAID approval.

The Grains and Oils Sector Project Manager will also conduct ongoing analysis and networking to identify agricultural projects, best practices and innovations in production based on their feasibility in the specified geographic sector of responsibility.

Develop projects with participation and other service providers to build capacity to combine appropriate end-market oriented advisory support with the sale of goods or other services to micro and medium farmers.
Collaborate with technical teams to deliver productivity and other relevant thematic projects aligned with the overall goals of the Harvest project.
Prepare sections of reports, plans, success stories and similar documents upon request.
Perform other relevant tasks as requested.
Qualifications
University degree in agronomy, natural or environmental sciences or other field, demonstrated relevant experience and knowledge of agriculture and related environmental issues will be an advantage.
Minimum of eight years of experience.

Proven success working in a multinational, multilingual team under pressure and tight deadlines.
Native speaker of the Ukrainian language.
English sufficient for professional purposes and to understand written work-related communications.
Monitoring and Reporting
The Grains and Oilseeds Sector Project Manager reports to and reports directly to the Head of the Object 1 Grains and Oilseeds Productivity Team.
Place of work
The position is based in Kyiv, Ukraine.
