General information 

The FHI 360 Crisis Response Team is implementing the Ukraine Humanitarian Assistance Program (UHARP II), which aims to improve the health and well-being of displaced and conflict-affected populations through the implementation of integrated multisectoral programmatic interventions.

In addition, FHI 360 in Ukraine is launching a nutrition project aimed at monitoring the implementation and compliance of the "International Code of Marketing of Breast Milk Substitutes" (hereinafter referred to as the "International Code") in health care facilities of various The project is also aimed at the implementation of measures for the protection and dissemination of breastfeeding ideas, as well as compliance with the "International Code" in certain medical institutions of Ukraine. The assessment will be carried out in designated maternity hospitals, perinatal centers and women's consultations in the Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhya and Donetsk regions.

Detailed description of tasks to be completed:

Under the direct supervision of the Evaluation / Research Manager, the Focus Group Recorder will assist the Focus Group Facilitator, withmaking notes during focus group discussions in different maternity homes, perinatal centers and women's consultations in different areas. Before starting work in the field, the moderators will participate in a two-day training on methodology and data collection tools, which will be held in Dnipro 

Among the specific responsibilities of a focus group discussion leader are:

  • Take an active part in the two-day training, in particular in the trial use of the tools. 
  • Take notes during focus group discussions in various maternity hospitals, perinatal centers and women's clinics according to the list provided by the study director. 
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy requirements. 
  • Check the consistency and completeness of the collected data. 
  • Provide daily reports to the immediate supervisor. 

Place of performance of professional tasks:

< p style="font-weight: 400; font-style: normal">Consulting services will be provided at the research sites within the Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Mykolaiv and Zaporizhia regions. Training of database registrars will be held in Dnipro 

Expected load:< /u> 42 days

Engagement period: December 9, 2024 – February 28, 2025

Contract Type: Service Agreement

Required:

    • A higher education in the specialty "Social work", "Nutritionology" or in the field of health care is desirable. 
    • Practical experience in collecting qualitative data. 
    • Developed oral and written skills in Ukrainian. 
    • Opportunity to travel between settlements of the specified region. 
    • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. 
    • Knowledge and ability to use mobile phones / tablets for data collection.  
    • Ability to determine priorities, flexibility, creative approach. 

Preferably:

  • Knowledge in the field of breastfeeding is an advantage.
  • Developed communication skills in Englishthis will be an additional advantage, but not required. 
  • Previous experience of conducting discussions in focus groups. 

Selection criteria:

FHI 360 will evaluate proposals from consultants that meet the mandatory requirements according to the following criteria

  • Applications that do not meet the mandatory qualification requirements will not be considered. 
  • Degree of compliance with mandatory qualification requirements (50%). 
  • Interview (50%)
