Arche noVa has been actively working in Ukraine since 2016, supporting the affected population of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. With the outbreak of full-scale war in February 2022, arche noVa expanded its aid program in Ukraine in response to an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. The war shows no signs of abating and continues to drive the growth of humanitarian needs across the country, affecting all areas of life for millions of Ukrainians. This has resulted in civilian casualties that continue to rise and significant damage to infrastructure.

To implement the aid program in Ukraine, arche noVa is looking for candidates for the position: Field Engineer

< p>Duration: until January 31, 2025 with the possibility of extension

Start of work: as soon as possible

Place of work: Izyum, with regular trips around the Kharkiv region

Terms: employment contract, trial period – 1 month

Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Coordinator of the WSG and Shelter Department, the Field Engineer will be responsible for the on-site implementation of measures related to WSG, the restoration of housing and social infrastructure, as well as the provision of the necessary non-food goods within the framework of arche noVa program activities in Ukraine.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Verification, implementation and monitoring of measures directly in the places of implementation of program activities related to WSG, restoration of housing and social infrastructure, as well as provision of necessary non-food goods
  • Performance of regular technical supervision and acceptance of construction and restoration works on the ground, including contractors and partner organizations, to ensure high quality of work performed and compliance with conditions in accordance with technical tasks
  • Management of document management, including compilation, collection and verification of necessary work documentation, including acts, technical tasks, specifications, personal data of beneficiaries, etc.
  • Promoting the establishment of relations and supporting close cooperation with local authorities, communities and other NGOs to achieve maximum efficiency and impact of implemented projects; in particular, this includes organizing and participating in joint meetings to resolve current issues, as well as drawing up minutes of such meetings
  • Regular reporting on current activities, including achievements, problematic aspects and ways to resolve them
  • Perform other tasks related to functional duties

Qualification requirements

  • Specialist degree or higher in relevant fields (construction, engineering, etc.)
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in the implementation and supervision of construction works, including necessarily in the field of public utilities
  • Experience of cooperation with budget institutions, housing and communal services enterprises
  • Knowledge of national construction standards and norms, as well as the relevant legislation of Ukraine
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Flexibility and ability to work under stress
  • Willingness to make regular business trips to program implementation sites, primarily guided by security and access requirements
  • Possible driver's license with at least 5 years of driving experience
  • Desirable command of the English language (both written and spoken)
