Charitable fund Mines Advisory Group (MAG) in Ukraine is a part of the international organization Mines Advisory Group, which for more than 30 years has been carrying out mine safety training in more than 34 countries of the world.

The fund was created to support the activities of the MAG branch in Ukraine, which works to clean up territories contaminated by explosive objects, increase public awareness of risks and promote the restoration of safe conditions for life and community development.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The deputy director is the executive head of the MAG charity fund in Ukraine and supports the director in general management, management and ensuring legal activities organization.
The position involves participation in the implementation of the strategic development of the fund, management of operational activities within the limits of delegated powers.

The deputy director is responsible for the effective implementation of charitable programs, transparent management of resources and compliance with the requirements of the legislation of Ukraine, the Foundation Charter, internal policies and donor requirements.

Responsibilities will include:

Strategic and operational management

• Support the director in the day-to-day leadership and management of the foundation.
• Participate in the implementation of charitable programs and strategic goals of the organization.
• Prepare and monitor the implementation of annual work plans, budgets and operational priorities.
• Initiate improvements in programs for ensuring efficiency, compliance with requirements and achieving results.

Management, compliance and risks

• Ensuring compliance of the fund's activities with the legislation of Ukraine, the Fund's Charter and internal regulatory documentsm.
• Participation in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures.
• Promotion of proper corporate governance and the system of internal control.
• Protection of the legal status and reputation of the organization.

Financial management and asset management

• Implementation of operational control over financial resources and property of the fund within the limits of delegated powers.
• Support of the director in planning budget and cost estimation.
• Participation in prioritizing the use of financial resources.
• Control over the preparation and submission of reports to state bodies in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine.

Fundraising and partnerships

• Support of the director in activities to attract resources.
• Development of relations with donors, grant-makers, partners and sponsors.
• Development of strategic national and international partnerships.

Representation and external relations

• Representation of the fund before the state bodies of Ukraine, donors and partners on behalf of the director.
• Participation in the preparation and conclusion of contracts, agreements and other legal documents.

Personnel management

• Support of the director in planning the organizational structure and personnel policy.
• Participation in the determination of positions roles, employment conditions and remuneration system.
• Issuance of internal orders within the scope of delegated powers.

Monitoring and reporting

• Monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of charity programs and projects.
• Preparation of reports, plans and financial documentation.
• Ensuring compliance with reporting requirements to donors and government bodies.

ABOUT YOU:

We are looking for a candidate with:

Education

• Higher education in the field of law, finance or international relations.
• Post-graduate education or certification in the field of management, finance or activities of non-profit organizations will an advantage.

Experience

• Experience of managerial work in a charity, humanitarian or international organization.
• Experience of managing an organization and corporate governance.
• Experience of financial control, budgeting and resource management.
• Experience of working with donors and developing partnerships.

Skills

• Strategic thinking and management skills solutions.
• High organizational and management skills.
• Financial and legal literacy.
• Excellent communication skills in Ukrainian and English.

Knowledge and competences

• Understanding of Ukrainian legislation in the field of corporate governance, finance, labor relations and charitable activities.
• Knowledge of donor reporting standards and accountability.
• Understanding of program management, monitoring and evaluation.

The Mines Advisory Group (MAG) Ukraine Charitable Foundation is part of the international Mines Advisory Group organization, which has been delivering explosive ordnance clearance and mine risk education globally for over 30 years in more than 34 countries.

• Initiating improvements to programmes to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and impact.

Governance, Compliance and Risk Management

• Ensuring that the Foundation’s activities comply with Ukrainian legislation, the Foundation’s Charter, and internal regulations.
• Contributing to the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures.
• Supporting appropriate corporate governance and internal control systems.
• Safeguarding the legal standing and reputation of the organisation.

Financial and Asset Management

• Exercising operational control over the Foundation’s financial resources and assets within delegated authority.
• Supporting the Director in budget planning and cost estimation.
• Assisting in determining priority areas for the use of financial resources.
• Overseeing the preparation and submission of reports to state authorities in accordance with Ukrainian legislation.

Fundraising and Partnerships

• Supporting the Director in fundraising and resource mobilisation activities.
• Developing relationships with donors, grantors, partners, and sponsors.
• Building and maintaining strategic national and international partnerships.

Representation and External Relations

• Representing the Foundation before Ukrainian government authorities, donors, and partners as delegated by the Director.
• Assisting in the preparation and conclusion of contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.

Human Resources and Organisation

• Supporting the Director in organisational structure planning and staffing.
• Contributing to defining staff roles, remuneration structures, and employment conditions.
• Issuing internal orders and instructions within delegated authority.

Monitoring and Reporting

• Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of charitable programmes and projects.
• Preparing reports, plans, and financial documentation.
• Ensuring compliance with donor and statutory reporting requirements.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a candidate with:

Education

• University degree in law, finance, or international relations.
• Postgraduate qualification or professional certification in governance, finance, or non-profit leadership will be an advantage.

Experience

• Senior leadership experience within a charitable, humanitarian, or international organisation.
• Experience in organisational management and corporate governance.
• Experience in financial oversight, budgeting, and resource management.
• Experience working with donors and developing partnerships.

Skills

• Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills.
• Excellent organisational and management skills.
• Strong financial and legal literacy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Ukrainian and English.

Knowledge and Competencies

• Understanding of Ukrainian legislation in the fields of corporate governance, finance, labour relations, and charitable activities.
