Who we’re looking for
OpenMinds is actively seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer who will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining our robust data architecture. Collaborating seamlessly with cross-functional teams, you will advance our analytical capabilities and assist us in gaining deeper insights into attitudes and beliefs in highly censored, authoritarian societies.
In the position, you will:
- Craft, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support our evolving data needs;
- Collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to comprehend data requirements and translate them into effective solutions;
- Optimise and troubleshoot existing data infrastructure to guarantee optimal performance and reliability;
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in data engineering technologies, applying innovative solutions to enhance our data capabilities;
- Work closely with a diverse team, including ML engineers, sociologists, psychologists, analysts, to comprehend business requirements and translate them into efficient and effective data solutions to detect, assess, and act on malign influence and information threats;
- Develop and implement best practices for data processing, storage, and management, ensuring high standards of data quality and accessibility.
We are a perfect match if you have:
- A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field;
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role;
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and other relevant programming languages, with experience in big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or similar;
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, showcasing your ability to leverage cloud technologies for effective data engineering;
- Possess a strong understanding of database design, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts;
- Excellent problem-solving skills and effective communication, crucial for collaborating with a diverse team, including ML engineers, sociologists, psychologists, analysts, and other professionals in a dynamic environment;
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, contributing to a positive and innovative work culture.
