What will you do in this position?

The Research, Assessment and Monitoring (RAM) team in the Ukraine CO carries out food security and other types of needs assessments, undertakes targeting analysis and performs economic and market analysis. The RAM team is also responsible for all monitoring of WFP's program activities in Ukraine, including process and outcome monitoring. The team collaborates with various external partners on various research and knowledge generation pieces in the area of ​​food security, agriculture and economic impacts of the war.

The role is expected to strengthen the RAM team by bringing strong skills on data analysis, data presentation and visualization. The Data Associate (RAM) will work with different topics and methodologies in the area of food security, needs assessment and programme monitoring. The ideal candidate should be a team player who is willing to learn new skills and methods.

How can you make a difference?

In this position, you will have to:

  • Develop, programme and test data collection tools for electronic data collection
  • Carry out cleaning and analysis of various types of household survey data including computation of standard food security indicators and monitoring outcome and process indicators
  • Support the RAM Unit in setting up a structured data management ecosystem from collection to analysis in accordance with corporate standards
  • Visualise data in easily digestible graphs, tables etc. and prepare analysis briefs in succinct language
  • Support the coordination of data collection and field visits with monitoring staff in WFP’s field offices
  • Support the drafting of assessment and/or monitoring reports
  • Participate in field monitoring missions to assess programme activity implementation
  • Support the training of data collectors including the preparation of materials
  • Support the development of survey concept notes, methodologies and analysis plan preparations as required
  • Contribute to evidence-based decision-making on programme design and implementation, notably through making assessment and monitoring findings accessible, developing innovative, user-friendly and informative products
  • Perform other assigned relevant task.

To join us in saving lives, changing lives, you will have:

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in statistics, econometrics, database management, data visualisation, household economics, or another related functional area.

Experience: Minimum six (6) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience in the sphere of statistics, econometrics, database management, data visualisation, household economics, or another related field.

Post-secondary education can compensate for some years of experience. For example, you will be considered as eligible if you have:

  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience in combination with a Master’s Degree;
  • Four (4) years of relevant work experience in combination with a Bachelor’s Degree.

At least one year of experience in a data analysis function will be an asset.

Specific experience in one or several of the belowtopics is required:

  • Data cleaning and management;
  • Analysis of household survey data;
  • Food security analysis;
  • Analysis of project monitoring data;
  • Dashboard building and/other types of data visualization.

Knowledge&Skills:

  • Excellent data management and analytical skills
  • Excellent command of Excel and either one of STATA, SPSS, or R, with a preference for R
  • Visualisation skills (such as Tableau) are an advantage
  • Attention to detail
  • Problem-solving attitude and creativity
  • Ability to work both with minimal supervision and as part of a team
  • Ability to establish effective working relations with persons of different national and cultural backgrounds
  • Willingness to participate in field missions

Languages: Fluency (level C) in English and Ukrainian languages.
