Since the Russian invasion of 24th February, Ukraine has been subjected to heavy artillery bombardment, missiles, and air strikes, as well as the use of landmines and cluster munitions. The scale of the conflict and the use of high impact and indiscriminate weapons requires an urgent and extensive response. MAG seeks to save lives and build safer futures by providing risk education to communities, to help them stay safe. MAG is also in the process of seeking accreditation to start conducting explosive ordnance disposal and demining activities in Ukraine, to save the lives of people affected by the conflict.
MAG is an organisation that is approved as a critically important organisation for national infrastructure.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Community Liaison Officer (CLO) will work with communities in a participatory way to implement MAG’s community liaison work.
Responsibilities:
ABOUT YOU:
We are looking a candidate with:
Higher education in Social Sciences, Communications, Management, Education, Public Health, or related fields.
Experience working in communities or in the field of educational development.
Experience conducting needs or risk assessments and developing appropriate interventions.
Experience in monitoring and evaluating development projects.
Experience in designing and delivering formal or informal training, as well as knowledge transfer.
Experience in leading, motivating, training, and managing diverse teams.
Proven ability to work independently in remote environments with minimal supervision.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships.
Practical knowledge of participatory research methods.
Understanding of humanitarian response, risk reduction, and issues related to gender, diversity, and inclusion.
Awareness of political and cultural contexts and the root causes of humanitarian crises.
Confident presentation skills with the ability to engage with different audiences.
Strong team player.
Ability to represent MAG responsibly, demonstrating professionalism and appropriate behaviour.
Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and perform well under pressure.
Strong negotiation, communication, and collaboration skills across all levels.
Experience in people management and team coordination.
Good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills (MS Office, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.).
Knowledge of mapping and the use of GPS systems.
Ability to establish effective working relationships both internally and externally.
Self-motivated, flexible, proactive, creative, with analytical thinking and a problem-solving approach.
Ability to represent and promote MAG’s values, mission, and vision.
Language skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills in Ukrainian
Fluent Russian
English language proficiency is highly desirable
