The Communications Officer, in close cooperation with the Regional Branches and National Committee, will be responsible for producing a wide range of external and internal communications materials. The role is supported by the National Committee Communications Department and Head of Interregional Office in key communications activities, as well as ensuring that their content is available to be amplified across various channels. The role will be responsible for managing and coordinating communications resources on the ground, overseeing quality communications approaches that highlight the humanitarian situation.

Essential Tasks: 

• Drafting and producing content for various audiences and channels on humanitarian situation in the region and Regional Branches/ Interregional Office response in line with the operational priorities.
• Proactively ensuring strong visibility in local media through proactive media engagement, pitching story ideas about Red Cross and Red Crescent operations, coordinating media events and requests, as well as arranging visits to field operations.
• Planning and coordinating content production to ensure visibility of the Regional Branches and Interregional Office activities in the country. 
• Supporting visits of Partner National Societies (PNSS), senior representatives, and international media. 
• Supporting the communications team in their communications activities, as well as ensuring that their content is available to be amplified across channels. 
• Support advocacy and reputational risk management through monitoring media and social media, anticipating, identifying and flagging potential reputational issues to help adopt and implement appropriate responses.
• Drafting and producing a wide range of internal communication materials.
• Supporting in other communications related tasks.
   

Requirements 

• Degreein journalism, communications, marketing or international policies
• At least 3 years of experience working in communications, with or for the media, social media, fundraising, humanitarian diplomacy or similar  
• Ability to produce a range of compelling communications content from the field (such as news stories, social media content and AV materials)
• Knowledge of humanitarian affairs
• Strong spoken and written English including proven experience in drafting compelling communications content for a variety of communications channels
• Photography, design, or video editing skills as plus
• Demonstrated understanding and use of social media for communications and advocacy purposes 
• Comfortable working and communicating with National Societies in a diverse environment as plus
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure
• Analytical skills
• Frequent travel to the field
• Ukrainian - Full Professional Proficiency

• Experience in building and maintaining media relations and contacts 
• Experience in emergency response
• Red Cross and Red Crescent experience

He/she will also be supported by the National Committee Communications Department and the Head of the Inter-Regional Office on key communications activities and will ensure that content is available for distribution through various channels. This position involves management and coordination of communication resources on the ground, control over quality approaches to communication that highlight the humanitarian situation.

Main responsibilities:

< li>Development and creation of content for various audiences and channels regarding the humanitarian situation in the region, as well as the response of Regional Offices/Interregional Office in accordance with operational priorities.
• Active provision of high visibility in local media through proactive cooperation, offering stories about the activities of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent, coordination of media events and requests, as well as organization of visits to the places of operations.
• Planning and coordination of content creation to ensure the visibility of the activities of the Regional Offices and the Interregional Office in the country.

• Supporting visits by representatives of Partner National Societies (PNS), management and international media.
• Supporting the communications team in their activities, as well as ensuring that their content can be distributed through various channels.

• Support advocacy and management of reputational risks through media and social media monitoring, forecasting, identification and flagging of potential reputational issues to facilitate the adoption and implementation of appropriate response measures.
• Development and creation of various internal communications materials .
• Assist in other tasks related to communications.

Requirements:

• Higher education in the specialty of journalism, communications, marketing or international politics.
• Experience in the field of communications for at least 3 years (media, social networks, fundraising, humanitarian diplomacy, etc.).
• Ability to create a variety of interesting communication content from the scene (news, social media content and audiovisual materials).
• Knowledge of humanitarian issues.
• Proven experience in developing interesting communication content for various communication channels.
• li>
• Skills in photography, design or video editing (will be a plus).
• Professional use of social networks for communication and advocacy.
• Confidence in working and communicating with Red Cross and Red Societies Crescent in a multi-faceted environment (a plus).
• Ability to work in multitasking mode and in conditions wheresku.
• Analytical abilities.
• Frequent business trips.
• Ukrainian language - fluency at a professional level.
