Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is looking for Communication Coordinator to support and improve communication and media activities for the programmes and operations in Ukraine.

Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is an international non-governmental organization that provides humanitarian and development assistance worldwide. Since 1992, PAH has operated programs in 52 countries, supporting sustainable and stable development of regions suffering the consequences of armed conflicts, natural disasters and other humanitarian crises. 

Operating in Ukraine since August 2014, PAH is uniquely positioned with a wide network of partners and donors to deliver humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable conflict-affected people during this crisis. PAH provides assistance to the people in need, especially internally displaced people, elderly and single mothers, working in the sectors of Protection/Advocacy, WASH, Food Security/MCPA, Shelter/NFI and MHPSS. PAH Ukraine is rapidly expanding its operations in response to the armed conflict and seeks dynamic candidates comfortable with a fast-changing environment who are eager to scale operations quickly.

 Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

Producing and compiling materials for external communication

  • Write communications pieces (success stories, articles, blog posts, etc.) and create project presentations
  • Help the program team, HQ & partners with their process documentation work: interviews, taking photographs, making video, etc.
  • Ensure the quality and validity of information collected from the field and nationally.
  • Edit and abstract project documents into articles for newsletter and the website

 Improve internal and external communication and ensure the quality of communication materials:

  • Ensure effective information flow among all staff, members and partners and stakeholders involved - including communication on the correct visibility for partners and donors
  • Support the programme staff and HQ to develop information outputs such as newsletters, newspaper articles, website, flyers, briefing notes, short video films etc.
  • Provide support and technical direction to the staff working in the field, in order to ensure a consistent two-way flow of data and information from the field offices to project center
  • Coordinate the relations with local and international media (interviews, article pieces etc.) in cooperation with HQ Spokesperson and/or HQ Press Officer, as well as HQ Communication and/or Journalists' visits

Other tasks:

  • Maintain and organize photo and video documentation
  • Sharing knowledge and experience with other staff (audiovisual trainings)
  • Reports regularly to supervisor
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

The successful candidate will be selected based on the qualification requirements described below: 

  • Experience: Communication or other relevant to this position - 2 years.
  • Education: Communication, journalism or other relevant to this position
  • Ability to speak and write in English (C1 level) and Russian or Ukrainian. 
  • Photography/movie taking skills.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Photography/movie editing skills would be an asset.
