The National Committee of the Red Cross Society of Ukraine (RCSU) announces a competition for the position ofChief specialist in humanitarian direction (Working group on civil protection) to Alliance of Ukrainian Civil Society Organizations Red Cross Society of Ukraine - the largest humanitarian organization of Ukraine, which is one of the first to respond to all emergency situations in the country and provides assistance to those who need it most. 

Alliance of Ukrainian Civil Society Organizations is an initiative group, an analytical center focused on providing local leadership in responding to humanitarian crises and creating a foundation for recovery processes in Ukraine. 16 Ukrainian CSOs have united around this idea, representing various spheres of activity of Ukrainian civil society - from humanitarian aid to capacity building and development.

The chief humanitarian specialist is responsible for the coordination and implementation of projects aimed at supporting civil protection and response to emergency situations within the Unified State Civil Protection System (USCCP). Coordinating joint work between joint civil society organizations (CSOs) to ensure rapid and effective emergency response and support recovery efforts. To promote cooperation between CSOs and state structures, international partners, as well as to ensure a comprehensive approach to the protection of the civilian population in conditions of conflicts or natural disasters. Integrating the work of CSOs with the EDPS, developing strategies for increasing readiness, monitoring project implementation, mobilizing resources and building cooperation with international partners.

Effectiveness assessment criteria:

1 . Implementation of projects on time and in accordance with approved plans.

2. Regularity and accuracy of reporting on the progress of projects and the use of resources.

3. Has it been possible to establish effective partnerships with international organizations, government institutions and other key stakeholders?

4. The effectiveness of communication and information exchange between all subjects of the civil protection system.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of programs and activities based on operational plan of the Alliance and Localization Strategy
  • Organization of meetings, preparation of the agenda and minutes of meetings of the Working Group
  • Receiving the necessary information about partners; communication support with partners;  keeping a database of partners; control over the timely updating of all information related to the partnership

Additional duties:

  • Perform additional duties that by the Alliance management
  • To perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Alliance UA CSO managers

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to humanitarian activities, public relations, civil protection, international law or similar fields
  • Minimum of one year of experience in humanitarian organizations, diplomatic institutions, public authorities and other institutions related to decision-making, advocacy and diplomacy.
  • High writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Good coordination and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to create compelling narratives and messages to support advocacy efforts
  • Know the rules diplomatic correspondence
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Excel)
  • Professional command of the Ukrainian language
  • B1 level of English +
