Children of Heroes was established to support the countless Ukrainian children who have faced the profound loss of a parent or parents during the ongoing war. The Fund offers comprehensive assistance to these children and their families, guided by our dedicated team of Family Helpers. Our programs are made possible through the generous support of our partners and donors.

We believe that the children of Heroes, those who have fought courageously for a free and prosperous Ukraine, are Heroes themselves. They deserve care, encouragement, and ongoing support to help them build a brighter future.

We’re looking for a Chief Executive Officer who wants to build the next chapter of Children of Heroes — not just as a charity, but as a high-impact, digital-first organisation that delivers measurable, lasting value to children on a scale. Fund is looking for a “great athlete” CEO — a leader with stamina, hunger, and judgment — who is deeply motivated by impact and capable of building a strong organisation around it.

If you are a leader who wants their work to mean something — and who believes that impact and excellence belong together — we would love to meet you.

As CEO of Children of Heroes, You own the strategy, team formation and leadership, integrity, and long-term success of the organisation — and the trust placed by children, donors, partners, and the public.

The Opportunity

Today, Children of Heroes is a team of 125 professionals, entering its next phase of growth. Over the coming years, the Foundation aims to:

  • Scale thoughtfully to become one of the most trusted global brands supporting children who lost parents due to war
  • Evolve into a digital-first organisation, with strong platforms, automation, and data-driven decision-making
  • Expand both institutional funding (companies, foundations) and individual donor engagement
  • Deepen impact while further strengthening governance, transparency, and financial discipline. This is not a caretaker CEO role.

This is a rare opportunity to lead a mission-driven organisation with real scale, strong governance, and global visibility — and to shape its next chapter as a modern, high-performing, impact-driven foundation.

For a leader who believes that impact and excellence belong together, this role offers purpose, responsibility, and the chance to build something that truly matters.

Responsibilities

  • Set a clear, focused strategy that turns mission into outcomes
  • Build and lead a strong, values-driven leadership team
  • Serve as the credible, inspiring public face of Children of Heroes
  • Build long-term relationships with donors, partners, media, and the broader ecosystem
  • Hold the organisation accountable for delivering real, measurable results for children
  • Ensure rigorous financial discipline, governance, and reporting
  • Protect and strengthen trust with donors, partners, and the Board at all times
  • Build a creative, credible, and distinctivebrand that aspires to be the world’s most trusted charity for children without parents
  • Drive sustainable fundraising across institutional partners (B2B) and individual donors (digital and performance channels)
  • Create clarity in roles, accountability, and decision-making as the organisation evolves
  • Lead the organisation’s evolution toward more digital, automated, and data-driven ways of working

Required Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

  • Proven senior leadership experience (CEO / MD / GM) with full ownership for strategy, execution, and results
  • Experience building and scaling teams and organisations; strong people judgment
  • Comfortable leading digital, systems, and process transformation
  • Credible, confident communicator and public representative
  • High level of integrity and responsibility toward beneficiaries, donors, and partners, emotional intelligence, and deep alignment with the mission
  • Strong business and financial acumen; disciplined, data-informed decision-maker; clear focus on measurable outcomes and impact, not activities
  • End-to-end ownership of strategy: setting direction, executing priorities, and delivering measurable outcomes
  • Experience working closely with a Board and operating in high-trust, high-reputation environments
  • Fundraising or revenue leadership experience, including institutional partners (corporates, foundations) and/or individual donors (digital, performance channels)
  • Ability to build and lead strong leadership teams, creating clarity, accountability, and alignment
  • Fluent English
  • Excellent Ukrainian
