About the job 

The ICRC Logistics Unit seeks a competent Buyer for Medical items to join our team in Kyiv. In close cooperation with the team members and line managers, the Buyer for Medical Items will support the procurement process for medical and health-related items. The Buyer's role is to fulfill the requester's demands, ensuring a timely and qualitative procurement in compliance with ICRC standard procedures.

Start date: Immediately


Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Receive and analyze purchasing requests
  • Determine the best source of supply for the order
  • Prepare and send out requests for quotation (RFQ) or requests for tender (RFT)
  • Select the best offer based on price, delivery time, quality, and other factors.
  • Provide a transparent selection table, including supporting documentation
  • Prepare contracts for the purchase of goods and services
  • Follow up on purchases and deliveries
  • Update and maintain knowledge about leading and potential new suppliers in the market
  • Conduct market surveys and analysis for prices and quality benchmarking
  • Participate in supplier assessments

About you

To be successful as Buyer for Medical items in the Logistics Unit, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:  

  • Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
  • High School Diploma
  • University diploma in the relevant field, particularly in medical or health-related disciplines, is considered as an advantage
  • 3 years of experience in a relevant field
  • Experience in Medical / Health / Pharmaceutics or equivalent is an advantage
  • Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply-chain management is an advantage
  • Good knowledge of the local market
  • Professional fluency (written and spoken) in English and Ukrainian
  • Computer proficiency, including sound knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
  • Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
