Our operations in Ukraine began in 2014. Since then, we have significantly expanded our geographic presence, providing support to children and families affected by war. We work in areas such as education, child protection, food security and social support, and we also carry out advocacy activities aimed at ensuring lasting changes in the lives of children.
OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION
The position involves providing key financial and grant support to the SCI response in Ukraine, as well as the ongoing development and implementation of best practices in financial and grant management in an emergency situation.
Main the role consists in performing the functions of the focal person for finances and grants within the framework of the response to the emergency situation in Ukraine, in close cooperation with other divisions to ensure a coordinated, effective and compliant response.
KEY DUTIES
Development of project proposal budgets in accordance with donor requirements, ensuring the achievement of the established level of coverage of non-thematic (indirect) costs countries.
Preparation of budget reallocations for current grants in cooperation with program teams (as needed).
Representing the finance department at BVA meetings and ensuring the implementation of agreed actions on their results.
Providing support to the CFO and the manager of financial planning and analysis during the preparation of the consolidated budget, first and second forecasts.
Preparation of regular analysis of funding gaps (Funding Gaps) on personnel costs, operational costs and other management reports to support SMT decision-making.
Verification of proposed reclassifications of costs by program teams for compliance with donor requirements and financial policies of SCI.
Analysis of financial statements together with budgets and creation/updation of coding lines strings).
Preparation of financial statements in accordance with donor requirements, ensuring compliance with deadlines according to the reporting calendar.
Ensuring proper support of sub-offices in accounting, including timely provision of analysis of budget deviations, prompt processing of requests and coordination of deadlines.
Conducting introductory sessions and trainings for staff regarding financial procedures and donor requirements.
Consulting persons responsible for budgets on issues of financial management of grants.
Strengthening the capacity of financial and non-financial staff in the field of budgeting and financial reporting.
Analysis of monthly expenses in accordance with KPI 1 and KPI 2 with preparation of justifications for deviations for consolidationand submission to the regional office.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Mandatory requirements:
Higher education in the field of finance; partially completed professional ACCA/ACMA qualification and at least 5 years post-qualification accounting experience.
Proven experience of supporting senior management team and strategic support in various sectors and/or regions.
Knowledge of key donor requirements in humanitarian response and budgeting and donor reporting experience.
High level of analytical skills and focus to details.
Proficient in MS Office (including advanced Excel skills) and financial systems.
Developed intercultural and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure, flexibility and adaptability.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English language.
Desired:
Experience with Save the Children financial systems and international accounting software (Agresso, Sun).
Considerable experience working in international NGOs in emergency situations.
Fluent command of the English language.
