The successful candidate will play an instrumental role in supporting TBI’s project in the country, across critical policy topics for the government.This is an exciting opportunity requiring exceptional candidates who have experience working for public sector clients, a can-do attitude, appetite to make an impact, versatility, and comfort operating in politically complex environments. The Associate will report to a Senior Manager.An Associate is expected to be a “generalist” position with a willingness to contribute to multiple workstreams. The role will have the opportunity to substantially contribute to a small and dynamic team on meaningful topics. They will also have a unique opportunity to interact directly with government civil service officials, appointed senior leadership positions within government, and senior elected officials. The team’s work is highly visible within government and any team member will be able to shape the work of TBI in country and support government is charting a new direction for the future.Key ResponsibilitiesAssociate will have the following responsibilities:Support TBI’s role in delivering strategic direction, policy advice and delivery of projects to our government counterparts, spanning a broad range of topics and fluctuating over time, such as climate, healthcare, media, economics, and economic development, government organization and governance processes, social issues, foreign policy, etc.Conduct in-depth analyses and advise on key policy topics and international developments as needed to support the client’s policymaking and decision-making on priority projects and enhance the government’s ability to respond and adapt to global and regional trends.Engage with client counterparts for data gathering and establish relation of trust with counterparts, as a go-to-person for analytical abilities. Engage and work in close cooperation with the TBI team. Produce and own sections of presentations and reports destined to senior government leadership.Person Specification Academics and experienceSome experience in public sector consulting, public sector organizations, or implementation-oriented areas of a large, private sector organization – with a track record of effective project deliveryA graduate degree in public policy, economics, international relations or political sciences; under-graduate degrees and graduate degrees in other areas can be considered with relevant equivalent experienceWork ethics and skillsA proactive, self-motivated individual with a passion for achieving impactCommitment to delivering high quality work, and ready to put in the necessary effort to achieve this within imparted deadlinesAbility to work independently, think strategically and produce deliverables, with attention to detail. Ability to develop Excel-based models is an advantageGood written communication and executive reporting skills including concise written PPT decks and reports are an advantageA proven ability to collaborate with others, including people from different backgrounds and culturesFluency in English is required, with fluency in an Eastern European language preferredClient and environmental awarenessExcellent interpersonal and presentational skills; able to quickly establish TBI’s credibility with the clientAbility to operate within sometimes sensitive political contexts and be attuned to potential areas of conflict or tension. Apply sound judgement in all external engagements on behalf of TBIAn awareness of international relations trends, particularly in Eastern EuropeThe Institute’s programme in question is new, and the operating environment is challenging due to the ongoing conflict. The ongoing conflict means that the country is classed as a high-risk country and the applicant must be willing to travel and work on the ground, in the country’s capital. Candidates will discuss the security environment with the Institute’s Security, Resilience and Technical Operations team during the interview process.
