Android Developer (middle) Kyivstar TV in 1+1 media

Kyivstar TV is a joint project of 1+1 Media and Kyivstar, launched on December 11, 2019. It is one of the largest OTT platforms in Ukraine, providing access to more than 410 TV channels and a VOD library of over 20,000 movies, series, cartoons, and shows. The platform supports up to 5 personalized profiles across different devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, Smart TVs, and set-top boxes. This allows easy switching between adult and children’s profiles and ensures a seamless multi-screen experience. Kyivstar TV is available for all mobile operators in Ukraine and all Internet providers.

Kyivstar TV is looking for a Middle Android Developer to join the team and contribute to the development of streaming products used by millions of users.

Required skills:

• Experience: 3+ years of professional Android development with a strong portfolio of shipped apps.

• Language: Mastery of Kotlin (including advanced features like Context Receivers, Contextual Serialization, and Context Parameters if applicable in Kotlin 2.x).

• Modern UI: Strong proficiency in Jetpack Compose/XML (declarative UI is now a primary requirement). Knowledge of Material 3 (Expressive) and adaptive layouts for various screen sizes.

• Architecture: Deep understanding of Clean Architecture and Unidirectional Data Flow (UDF). Experience with MVVM/MVI patterns.

• Concurrency: Expert knowledge of Kotlin Coroutines & Flow (RxJava is moved to secondary/legacy support).

• Engineering Principles: Strict adherence to KISS, DRY, and YAGNI to maintain a lean and scalable codebase.

Tech Stack:

• Dependency Injection: Hilt.

• Networking & Data: Retrofit, Room, DataStore (KSP-based processing).

• Tools: Git, Android Studio, Kotlin Symbol Processing (KSP).

• Google Play: Full cycle of app publishing and managing releases via Google Play Console.

Will be a plus:

• Media: Deep expertise with Media3 (ExoPlayer), custom decoders, and DRM (Widevine).

• Large Screens: Specialized experience in Android TV / Google TV (Leanback or Compose for TV).

• DevOps: Experience with CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Bitrise) and automated UI testing (Compose Test APIs, Screenshot testing).

• AI Productivity: Proficiency in using AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, ktlint, Gemini in Android Studio) to accelerate development.

• System Design & Visualization: Proficiency in creating flowcharts, sequence diagrams, and state diagrams to visualize complex app logic (using tools like Mermaid, Lucidchart, Draw.io, or Miro).

Responsibilities:

• Core Development: Building and maintaining high-performance streaming applications across the Android ecosystem (Mobile, TV, Tablets).

• Solution Design: Architecting scalable solutions and preparing technical documentation (Solution Design Documents).

• Modernization: Gradually migrating legacy XML components to Jetpack Compose and modern architecture patterns.

• Quality Assurance: Preparing and executing Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP), profiling app performance (memory leaks, playback stability).

• Collaboration: Working closely with UI/UX designers and Backend teams to implement complex animations and smooth content delivery.
